TSA Gives Breast Cancer Survivor Invasive Patdown After She Goes Through Scan
A breast cancer survivor says she was forced to go through a patdown where TSA agents touched her breasts, even though she had already gone through the backscatter body scanner and had an ID card explaining the tissue expanders in her chest.
The woman, Lori, blogged about her experience. She said she offered to get out her device ID card but was denied.
Instead, she called over a female supervisor who told me the exam had to take place. I was again told that I could not retrieve the card and needed to submit to a physical exam in order to be cleared. She then said, “And if we don’t clear you, you don’t fly” loud enough for other passengers to hear. And they did. And they stared at the bald woman being yelled at by a TSA Supervisor.
The TSA told the Daily Mail they were looking into the issue.
At what point does the need for security eclipse human dignity and compassion? [Lori Dorn] (Thanks to Spamtasticus!)
