Who makes these aisle signs? I would assume it's not just some random employee. What would make it worse than say a misspelling on an Internet site such as this is that presumably these signs are made for thousands of stores somewhere and you would think THEY would spellcheck them before making them. What if an employee saw that it was misspelled when they were putting the sign up? They probably would just laugh at how stupid walmart is just like we are all doing. Not like they can go remake the sign or they get paid enough to care.

In my local megamart (not Wal-Mart), there's a sign advertising party platters. One is the "Decedent Cheesecake Tray." I've mentioned this to them several times, but they say they can't just fix one letter, they'd have to fix the whole line. Mercy. When I die, I'm taking that tray with me.

While I hate Wal-Mart with white hot intensity, it's not just them. Spelling in general is getting *horrible*. I passed a church a couple weeks ago that told people to "come inside and get the massage". I'm not sure what the hell they're doing with Jesus. And my local dairy informs people that cows are herbivors.

It's rampant. Makes my English major soul cry.

Living in Rogers, AR no more than five minutes from Bentonville and ten minutes from the Wal-Mart home office I don't find this all that surprising. Mistakes like this can be seen in their stores around here from time to time.

Of course, this is nothing compared to the tech stories I know of from first hand experience being out sourced to Wal-Mart and from friends of mine that worked for Wal-Mart ISD. I shudder just thinking about some of the idiotic things I had to deal with.

vacuum is one word that i can almost never spell correctly. still, you'd think the signmaker could have looked at one of the boxes in the vacuum aisle to double-check.

@cassifras: you can spell "separate" correctly by remembering that the r separates two a's! at least that's the way i do it.

@raybury: i kind of want to open a deli called belly delly now. yeah, it might be a little bit dumb, but it's also a little bit awesome.

At least it's printed, hot hand-written in pencil like the "no credit card" signs at one of my local Wal-Marts.

The WM closest to me has an aisle in the pharmacy section that includes not only "Cold" but "Flue"; I guess if you don't close the flue, you can get a cold.

Doesn't bug me as much as the sign in my local Giant grocery that says "Delly" instead of "Deli." Speaking of delis -- good delis -- we really need more Jews in the D.C. area; maybe Boca can spare a few.
