Reading between the lines, it looks like it's more than just retention people, it's also their basic customer service positions. It mentioned in the article that they're going to outsource everything. </p>
<p>
I'm guessing that some AOL bigwigs investigated and probably found that the  culture at these centers just could not be salvaged or turned around, and they had to reboot and start with a whole new workforce. </p>
