Woman Sues Walmart Over Shampoo She Claims Ruined Her Super Long Locks

Like Lady Godiva and Sampson before her, a woman in Oregon took great pride in her long locks, which used to reach the small of her back. Until, she claims, a shampoo she bought from Walmart tangled her hair so badly she had to cut large chunks of it off. [More]

Johnson & Johnson Reformulates Shampoo, Because Babies Don’t Need Formaldehyde In Their Baths

If you asked most folks if formaldeyde sounds like a great ingredient for baby shampoo, they’d say “no.” And possibly also, “ew, gross.” Baby-goods behemoth Johnson & Johnson agrees that formaldehyde is not so much a thing your baby needs, and has rinsed it right out of their iconic yellow shampoo. Missouri Legislator Pushing For Gluten-Free Shampoo Labels

I have a very good friend who figured out, by process of elimination, that she has a gluten intolerance. At first, it was tough — she suffered through a lot of bland, yucky and just bad-tasting products back in 2005 and became an excellent gluten-free chef in her own right because of it. Fast forward to now, and the food industry has caught on and made the world of gluten allergies a much friendlier place to eat in. One Missouri legislator wants to extend that trend to the cosmetic industry with a new bill. [More]

Activists Say Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo Is Dangerous

Concerned about chemicals in Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Shampoo, consumer activists are calling for a boycott of the product. The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, which claims to encompass 3.5 million people in 25 groups around the world, says the formaldehyde-releasing preservative quaternium and suspected carcinogen dioxane, which are found in the shampoo, could pose a danger to children. The group says some versions of the product in other countries don’t contain quaternium, and that there’s no reason those in the United States need to have the chemical. [More]

Guess What Happens When Amazon Keeps Sending Shampoo In Same Box With Book

Reader Len recently found out that it’s sort of impossible to order shampoo and a book from Amazon at the same time. They’ll just keep sending you a shampoo-covered book until they eventually give up and refund your money. Trouble is, Len didn’t want a refund. He wanted a shampoo-less book.

Baby Products: Now With Formaldehyde!

Baby Products: Now With Formaldehyde!

More than half of the baby products recently tested by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics were found to contain trace levels of formaldehyde and dioxane. Though the study didn’t accuse Johnson & Johnson of dumping barrels of the potential carcinogens directly into their baby products, the dangerous chemicals can form during the manufacturing process as other ingredients break down. The full list of 48 tested baby shampoos, lotions, soaps, and wipes—including some well-known products you probably have on your shelf—inside.

Grocery Shrink Ray Hits White Rain Shampoo, But It's Still "33% More"

Reader Luke noticed that the grocery shrink ray mercilessly zapped his bottle of White Rain shampoo– but mysteriously left the “33% more” label untouched. 33% more than… what exactly?

Chemicals In Baby Products May Be Dangerous

A recent study shows that phthalates found in some baby products such as shampoos and lotions may be, well, seeping into your baby. Phthalates are thought to cause reproductive problems in children, especially males. They’re not listed on the labels, so its hard for concerned consumers to avoid them.

Tresemme Color Thrive Conditioner And The Really Bad Hair Day

I have a beautiful head of hair. Every morning, I wake up and, Marcia Brady like, comb out the gossamer locks. “One! Two! Three!” I chant, up until a million or I pass out. Then, I break open some eggs, carefully separate the yolk and then apply the white to each glistening strand with a fine paint brush. It’s a pain, but it’s worth it.

When Jamie Olsen decided to become an eBay entrepreneur, she decided to start small: selling bottles of Aquage shampoo. And because people can tell a lot about the effectiveness of shampoo by staring at a grainy picture of the bottle, Jamie took a picture of the bottles with a camera phone.

Why Is This Garnier Shampoo So Stinky?

Why Is This Garnier Shampoo So Stinky?

What is this fell odor wafting out our Garnier shampoo bottle? Garnier products are great, especially the gel (oh my gawd, yes!), so we were surprised to open it this morning, having previously used it with no smelly problem at all–and gag.
