<![CDATA[vatica40 commented on Learn How To Read Body Language]]> Culture definately does figure into body language. I remember the probably urban legend story about how the Germans or Russians had 4 officers or whatever in a room sitting. 3 of them had their legs crossed. The fourth had his legs in figure four, which gave him away as an American spy.

I'm terrible at stories.

<![CDATA[vatica40 commented on Get 5% (Or More) Off Anything Anything At Amazon]]> Instead of clicking 'own', I just stick what I want in the cart, but don't buy it yet. It usually pops up in a day or two. Saved quite a bit (I think about 70 bucks) on a 360 with GTA that way. The only problem with this feature is it remembers -forever-, and Im too lazy to figure out how to clear its memory. I bought a textbook once for school so now it wants to sell me every history textbook ever written.

<![CDATA[vatica40 commented on McDonald's: Drink What We Say Or No Free Southern Chicken Sandwich]]> Geez. So many people go to McDonalds? I buy all my food at Target and Monoprice. Plebs.

But yeah, I tried the sandwich, because I occassionally do go to McDonalds, even though I've been known to think for myself now and then. I actually preferred the McChicken. It wasn't that this new sandwich isn't 'bad', its just that I could barely tell I was eating it. The dollar menu version is better spiced in that it has actual spices.

As for the promotion? Yeah, sucks that this persion had a bad run in. Oh well. It wasn't company-wide however.

<![CDATA[vatica40 commented on Iowa Best Buy Won't Sell To You Unless You Sign Up For Rewards Card?]]> For those cautious of the RewardZone program, I've been a member of the free version for about 2 years now, and the only mail, junk or otherwise I've gotten from them as a result is some 10%/12% off coupons once a month. I can verify this because I don't really get any other mail.
So lonely...

<![CDATA[vatica40 commented on Round 32: News Corp vs Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Company]]> Newscorp is bigger, and as we all know, the bigger the company, the worse it inevitably is. So sayeth the Internet!

<![CDATA[vatica40 commented on Round 24: Toshiba vs Microsoft]]> I realize you need to throw in some neutral seeds to fill stuff out, but thats a lame reason to include Toshiba. Really lame. It shouldn't even be taken into account. They invested in something, why shouldn't they try with every breath to get money out of it? As a matter of fact, I think giving up -sooner- would have made them a more irresponsible company.

And sure, nukes, Russians, whatever... I don't see Mitsubishi or Volkswagon topping off any lists.

Microsoft takes the cake just because they're discontinuing XP sales in June.

@Munsoned: Did you just really try to counter him with a version of "his post count is higher than yours, this board is for cool kids only"? Really? Don't make this site one of 'those' sites. The stars are bad enough.

<![CDATA[vatica40 commented on This Reusable Best Buy Coupon For 10% Off Does Not Expire]]> If you are part of the RewardZone program, they send out a packet of like three of these coupons that are good for a weekend every month. At least they do with me. And not only do you save 10%, you can actually save 12% by using the RewardZone number at checkout. While this still doesn't end up saving more money than newegg or amazon, or some other place, if you're in a "gotta have it now" mood one weekend, it helps. You just have to be careful not to buy something -just because- you have the coupons, which is what they of course intend.

Do we as a people really need to be living longer than we already are? Things are bad enough with all these people heading into the 70s and 80s. What happens when we start hitting the 110s regularly?

if it has a negative effect, eh. Just pruning the tree of life.

<![CDATA[vatica40 commented on Round 9: Target Vs Best Buy]]> @rdldr1: See, I never mentioned Wal-mart, but there you go. That's a big strike against Target. People go there not because it's a better store, but because when you leave you can reach in your bag and find a little bonus package of "smug". It's pure brand cache.

]]>
<![CDATA[vatica40 commented on Round 9: Target Vs Best Buy]]> In no way do i think target is abad company, but my experience has turned me off to it. The one in my town knows they are "hot stuff", so they slack in all the areas people here seem to praise. The prices are consistently higher than Wal-mart. It seems whenever I go to Target there are always 3 different pricetags on items, and the shelving isn't much help. And those scanners? Always broken. Sure, the girls are cute, but they're still teenage girls. Which means 5 standing around the checkout area chatting, with 1 register open that always seems to have the slowest checkout girl in history. One final anecdotal peeve, the employees always have the attitude that they're "just about to close for the night", even an hour before closing.

While Target is in no way 'evil', they're usually the last retail store I go to.

<![CDATA[vatica40 commented on The Great eBay Boycott Is Officially On, Will Anyone Notice?]]> @mrmysterious:
This is how I feel too. I used to check ebay first thing when I wanted something, now its almost the last place I check. I'm glad a bunch of 'powersellers' are up and leaving because that's who I'd like to avoid. I could pay retail at a store, or I could go to ebay, pay retail with the 'Buy it Now' that they force anyway, in addition to the 1000% marked up shipping.... hmmm....

If I want an online store I'll go to an online store.

It's sad because on the radio in my area the "Make a gazillion bucks on ebay if you really really want to now for sure!!1" ads have started popping up.

'Powersellers', if you want to be a business, be an actual business. If you don't like what ebay is doing to you, please please leave. Hey! How about opening your own online store! What a novel idea! What? That would add legitimacy? Shocking!

<![CDATA[vatica40 commented on Woman Sues Best Buy For $54 Million Over Lost Laptop]]> There are way too many people here who didn't read the article. Backups are not an issue. The 'data' was not accidently destroyed by BB, which is cut and dry. It was lost. It could be anywhere. That's the issue. She is more open and vulnerable to identity theft as a result of BB. It has nothing to do with a crashed drive or whatever many people here appear to be assuming.
