I totally got what you were saying.
I actually haven't had any problems with my First Gen. iPhone or my Mac, so I haven't had any reason to make a move (although your take on MixView was intriguing).
Your concerns about the Classic, however, did get me to track down a new 80G 5.5, when my 4th Gen iPod finally died.

Don't know them. Roy is no longer there. He and my sister moved to Seattle in '98 or so. All right then, keep on truckin' and I will netflix the Mad Max movies. If they suck, I'm coming to look for you though with my Capt. Morgan/Johnny Walker entourage.
