"@napalmnacey is an angry feminist: Besides medical issues (chronically ingrown nails - very rare in cats) there is the issue of a cat that constantly attacks and scratches his or her owners, to the point where they have two choices: give the cat up or declaw. If your cat is a bit crazy and constantly pounces on your kids' legs and scratches them up, you as a parent will most likely want to get rid of that cat (for most people, their kids come first)."
