"@jaredutah: I'm surprised that you ordered a double cheeseburger without cheese, and that there was a line item for cheese, and you actually got a burger with *no* cheese.
Conventional logic would dictate that you'd have ended up with double cheese, or a helplessly inedible mess of melted orange plastic."
"@mattius: I'm just amazed that Tretton would finally turn around and start being humble, and addressing the HUGE problems that have existed with the PS3.
- It costs too much.
- It touts features like Cell and BluRay which are irrelevant to this generation of gaming.
- It is a pain to develop for
- Sony made 10^2834992348 promises about the PS3 which they could not keep.
- It took a year longer to get to market than X360, with no perceivable gaming benefit.
It's a refreshing change from the usual "Impenetrable Wall of Arrogance" that is Sony's PR."
"@draconis1492: You are demonstrating a complete lack of understanding regarding "Monopolies", "monopolistic tactics" and the history of Microsoft.
Just off the top of my head:
Microsoft purposefully sabotaged their own APIs so that their products would run better than their competitors' in the same product spaces.
Microsoft forced integration with their middleware and browser with their OS to the exclusion of other developers.
Microsoft forced PC resellers to not bundle products with their competitors, or suffer higher OS prices.
Microsoft uses predatory pricing for security and enterprise products in an attmept to muscle existing competitors out of the market.
Microsoft can do these things (that noone else can do) because they operate an illegal monopoly.
Not only has Apple never done any of these things, but Apple can't do most of these things because they don't have a monopoly.
Apple could sabotage their own APIs, but they don't consider it in their own interest to make their partner's applications crash.
Talk to anyone who worked for Word Perfect, or Lotus, or Netscape, or Be, or any number of other fine company/products that were crushed by Microsoft merely flexing their Monopolistic influence over the PC industry, as opposed to winning by competing in the open market."
"@scoosdad: Except the customer who has to come back and order a second drink because the first didn't have enough sugar water is the even more profitable customer."
"@coan_net: The reason you can't figure it out is because you are failing to include the cost to society of all those drugs being distributed - increased crime rates, broken lives, costly addiction, death by overdose, economic depression as money is funneled into vice industries."
"#1 is currently going out of style, but a good one.
A lot of the bigger, older sized products are EOL'ed, and grocery stores are clearance-ing them as a result."
"1) friend code, and other "code" derived buddy systems still suck
2) Why isn't there a camera in this thing?
3) Sensor bar was already unstable enough without additional weight on top of it (stupid HDTVs and their lack of boxiness)."
