He starts by ridiculing people's methods for storing and remembering their to-do lists -- which would imply that he aims to provide a better solution; Which he seems to try to do, eventually, sort of, by suggesting index cards and sticky notes; which seems silly, considering that anyone who uses e-mail for this instead has probably already thought of using paper instead. But then he says it's not "about that". He explains the process of choosing items for a to-do list."
