"The answer to this is very simple: Companies make more money when you have to replace your stuff every 10 months rather than every 10 years."

"@timmus: I have an Intex kiddie pool in my backyard and it does state in huge bold letters on it: DO NOT RETURN TO STORE. So that seems to be common with these kinds of products. Box images are usually exaggerated anyway (as are images and visuals in most advertising, but this is a bit much."

"@ibored: WE as reps DO NOT hear the recording customers do about "your may be recorded for quality purposes" as employees of the call center we automatically consent to potential recording BY OUR QA department, but in disclosure states, the customer IS STILL REQUIRED to inform us we are being recorded BY THEM."

"As a former call center rep, let clarify a few things: 1) Laws DO very by state on whether or not you have to inform the rep that you are recording them. 2) I don't know how it works at other centers, but at mine we were told to NEVER EVER consent to a recording if a customer asked our permission to one."
