"@acvicari: You're on the right track, but a couple of your numbers need help - transmission loss of 25% is not common - the average efficiency of the grid is in the 90s."

      • Apeweek commented on New Michael Moore Movie Tackles Wall Street

"@shepd: All the healthcare problems you fear under government control are in fact bureaucratic problems, which can and do already exist under our present system, thanks to the insurance bureaucracy which sits between us and our doctors."

      • Apeweek commented on New Michael Moore Movie Tackles Wall Street

"@shepd: If you don't need 'evidence', there is no way to have a logical discussion with you, is there? The 'actual experience' you prefer is something subjective to you, asserting that you are the sole expert on truth. I'd love to encounter you in a courtroom."

      • Apeweek commented on Automakers announce smart

"@Oranges w/ Cheese - now with 50% more kitty!: The answer is fast-charge batteries (10 minutes to a 90% charge), which have already been developed and demonstrated, and are already on the market to a limited extent - the world record EV speed was recently set using fast-charge Altairnano batteries, for instance. The high-powered chargers required won't be for home use (at home, you would still charge overnight), but would be very handy at service stations for long trips."
