Somebody (generally a hostess or bartender tasked with taking care of dine-in patrons) is responsible for getting your order from the cold/hot/fried serving lines, getting your side dishes from various locations, putting your plastic cutlery and paper napkins in the bag with your food, and ensuring it can be picked up when and where you were told to pick it up. If you tip the driver who delivers your lo mein, why should you not tip a hostess who does all of his tasks less driving to you?"
