      • ClankBoomSteam commented on Is It Ever Acceptable Not To Tip At A Restaurant?

"Pure and simple: if I don't get the service commensurate with a given restaurant's prices, I do not tip."

      • ClankBoomSteam commented on Don't Keep Your Money In A Shoebox, Or At Least Don't Pose For A Photo With It

"Okay: so The Consumerist is pointing out what a terrible idea it is for 48-year-old Manhattan citizen Richard Cruz to store his money in a shoebox, and how it's an even worse idea for him to pose for a picture of it on the streets of Manhattan, all because this greatly increases the likelihood that Mr."

"@Ben Popken: Sorry Ben, but while the word is commonly used to mean something like "annihilate" (as evidenced by the dictionary.reference.com quote you supply), such usages are only slang derivations that muddy the actual meaning of the word: It comes initially from the Roman practice of killing one out of every ten members of a rebellion."

"Ben, considering this is an article about money and, thus, numbers, I would recommend that you choose your words more carefully here, with respect to the following quote: "...with versions of what just decimated Wall Street..." The word "decimated" does not mean "devastated", as is commonly believed -- it means "reduced by ten percent"."

      • ClankBoomSteam commented on The Post Office Wants Their Penny Dammit!

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't The Consumerist recently publish an article about a bank that was benefiting from the inverse of this situation, wherein the bank was telling its customers, as I recall, that it "wouldn't worry" about a few cents here and there (in the bank's favor)? Forgive me if this is vague, but what I remember was that the bank in question was somehow profiting by rounding their numbers up (or some such similar shenanigans), and that individual customers were losing a few cents each in the process. The reason I bring this up is that I fail to see how these two situations differ."

"@Superawesomerad: I have to say, using imagery that was only EVER associated with Devo (the "Energy Dome" hats) is a pretty dumb way for McDonalds to evoke a general "new wave" vibe."
