UPDATE: Video re-uploaded.
A still from a new Vitamin Water commercial tells viewers to "Try Sperm."
What the...?

Was resting on the couch enjoying some re-runs of family guy when the attached commercial caught my eye. Lucky I'm "cool" enough to have a dvr so i was able to rewind and take an amazing photo, as well as record the entire commercial.
If you watch the video, they're actually saying, "Try a nice spot of fly-fishing in a tank of hungry sperm whales. Try power-c. Try it." The left side says "try" while the words change on the right. Not that that makes any more sense.
Subliminal advertising? — BEN POPKEN

.....For Family Guy, this is not terribly surprising. My son turned me on to the show about five years ago. The vomit scene is my favorite on Family Guy.
pretty sad attempt at humor.
but the vomit scene that acidreign brings up was one of the best.
@AcidReign: That is not a Family Guy parody commercial... it is an actual commercial that actually plays during commercial breaks.
I've seen that commercial a few times and I laughed when I realized the 'secret message' they were passing on. I sure hope they're only showing it during late night shows (like Adult Swim).
Actually it's an ad which happened to air during FG.
Sorry people.. this is the best family guy moment ever :)

What are you guys doing?
Seriously, what is going on lately with this site?
What's next, a story about folding dollar bills to show the twin towers burning?
Really guys. What's up?
Vitamin Water...vitamins AND protein!
For a second, I thought this was Digg.
mmm... sperm... water? It's a little too thick, isn't it?
Ironicly, as I watched the video on here, about 3 seconds later it was actually playing on my TV.
I've got an idea! Let's have a debate about whether subliminal advertising is actually effective in any way, or whether this is just yet one more example of marketing genius to generate "controversy" and garner undeserved attention.
Can someone help me out here? I can't seem to find the connection between "Irony" and what Havok defined as "Irony"..
Irony: A meaning (often contradictory) concealed behind the apparent meaning of a word or phrase
As often as I have tried, that line doesn't produce results.
@tcp100: A dollar bill isn't a funny commercial.
I don't think anything's up with them posting something just because it's funny. It isn't like they haven't done it before.

Relax, man. What is with your need for constant seriousness of The Consumerist? "OMG! THEY'VE RESORTED TO SEMIEN JOKES! U GUYS USED TO BE COOL BUT NOW YR LAME!"
If you demand only the ripest, richest, most informative news bits on consumer products and companies, read Consumer Reports or the Wall Street Jornal or something. Otherwise, suck it up and laugh a little. You'll feel better.
Hahaha I saw that last night while watching Family Guy too I thought it was hilarious.
yeah, when i saw this last night i knew i had to submit it. thanks for posting my story!
Damn. I was a 100% heterosexual before viewing that clip, but now Sanjaya dancing to You Really Got Me seems strangely alluring...
"ju-ju-ju-just like the bad guy
on lethal weapon 2
i've got diplomatic immunity
so hammer you can't sue
can't touch me!"
...2nd best family guy moment ever...(1st being the vomit scene)
Damn it, the clip has been taken down. I really wanted to see try sperm in action.....or maybe I could just get a special video from the back section of the local video store
when i get in from work i'll upload the clip from my phone (five est).
hopefully they put it back up soon.
If you notice, the flashing words actually come together to form one sentence--
"Try fly-fishing for sperm whales" etc.
has anybody pointed out yet that there's a penis (pointing right) at the bottom of the screen?

Wow!
