You have a problem with their policy of not taking merchandise into the restroom?
Perhaps the store found that husbands have a tendency to load up on too much stuff in the tool aisle, forcing the wife to become frustrated and excuse herself to go to the bathroom before she comes back and drags the husband out of the store by the ear.
I like my "tools" to not be pre-used. But thanks.
If a tools been used, at least you know it works.
Wow this is a slow day.
Um... sometimes power tools are expensive, but necessary for a project. You can rent one for a day or two MUCH cheaper than you could buy, especially if you'll likely not need it again in the future. I somehow doubt they're renting screwdrivers.
We also have a tool consignment shop in town, which is a pretty damn cool idea.
I'm waiting for that "Her Depot" line of pink tools to come out. With lots of pretty illustrated directions to help me understand.
Probably have to bring your own batteries though.
One of these commenters DID NOT get it.. Can you guess which one?
@ZGEG
I can! I can!
Do they machine wash these rental tools after each customer, or just rinse them off in the bathroom sink?
I think people don't realize that there are some tools that are really expensive that you'd be better off just renting. Not hammers and wrenches, people.
@Zgeg: Have a problem recognizing humor, huh?
@DrGirlfriend: I was hoping there was at least one other person who got the humor. I was starting to worry.
I see this sort of humor in signs all over, but I don't get why it's on Consumerist. It's funny if you get it, but it's not really relevant to the site.
@Consumerist Moderator - ACAMBRAS: There isn't one just for Home Depot, but there are tools designed for women. They tend to be a little smaller, and well, pink.
@jesirose: O rly?
@meghannmarco: ya rly.
@nytmare: I think they just rinse them, then put a little plastic over them that says "sanitized for your protection". Disgraceful.
Well this is stupid.
I thought that if I wanted to rent a tool, I'd just respond to random ads on Craigslist. Apparently I was going about it all the wrong ways...
Thanks, Home Depot for setting me straight!
The better question is, what tools do you need to rent just to use the bathroom at Home Depot? Need to snake the drains before you go? Actually use a toilet jack and install a toilet to sit?
Hint!: here, the tools sign works as a sexual innuendo!
@Ben Popken: A double enteeeeeeeendre of sorts?
I'm lolling out loud. :)
renting... if a power tool is old and not maintained properly, they tend to vibrate violently, or the fact it is an old model is a cause, I have a power drill from the 1990s that rumbles like nuts, its humongous, but the plus is that its strong and gets the job done, ladies love a job well done... XD
@Ben Popken: What's sexual about a toilet?
.....
Wait, don't answer that.
