If this is a free gift, as the OP and commenters have indicated, then it's the work of a third party application developer, not Facebook itself.

App developers on Facebook produce an incredible amount of tacky crap, as any Facebook user can attest.

There was a free Skittles gift on Facebook and nobody complained about that. At least... not that I know of.

LiveJournal did the same thing with Pepsi Max virtual gifts. A lot of people were annoyed, because paid users arent supposed to see advertising, and now anyone could stick a tiny Pepsi ad on anyone else's userinfo whenever they pleased.

I ate one bite of this Wal*Mart ghost cookie, and my mouth blistered from a chemical burn. I kept eating it, though. For a whole year.

Wal-Mart is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful company I've ever know in my whole life.

I saw this today and just wanted to hurl! It almost ruined Halloween!!
