Is It Time To Start A Best Buy Death Watch?
By Laura Northrup on January 5, 2012 8:00 AM
Is much-hated electronics chain Best Buy spiraling out of business and into irrelevance before our eyes? Maybe. But not for a while yet. How Price Guarantees, Aren't
By Ben Popken on July 14, 2011 3:00 PM
Reader Ziemowit has a good point. Some big box stores loudly proclaim their "PRICE GUARANTEE" signs but then actually do some stuff that make them irrelevant. The guarantee is supposed to be that they will match any competitor's price. But when you have a number of manufacturers making products with packaging and SKUs just for that one retailer, then you can't do a price guarantee because no one else carries that specific model. If you can't find the same product at another store, you can't match the price. Zing! More Â»

Circuit City Rises From Dead, Traps Customer In Laptopless Purgatory
By Laura Northrup on February 9, 2011 9:30 AM
Systemax, the same company that now owns TigerDirect and the CompUSA brand name, devoured the remains of Circuit City and relaunched it. Unfortunately, this zombie retailer seems to have the collective customer service skills of...well...zombies. Kelly ordered a laptop, which is waiting around to be shipped. No one seems capable of throwing the computer on a truck, or telling her why the computer has not yet been placed on a truck. More Â»

CompUSA Sent Me A Big Box Of Nothing
By Phil Villarreal on June 28, 2010 4:10 PM
Mike didn't say what it was he ordered from CompUSA's Amazon store, but it must not have been a box of air, because that's what he says he received and he's angry about it. More Â»

Circuit City Stores Could Rise From The Dead
By Phil Villarreal on March 26, 2010 8:00 AM

Linens 'N Things Resurrected (In Canada)
By Chris Walters on October 13, 2009 3:02 PM

—>In today's marketplace, going out of business doesn't mean you go away forever. Your storefronts may disappear, but you'll just pop up again online—like CompUSA and Circuit City—or you'll come back on someone else's shelves as a brand, like Linens 'N ThingsMore Â»

Florida AG Sues TigerDirect For 'Continually Blaming Customers' For Rebate Delays
    By consumerist.com on September 8, 2009 7:05 PM

—>Waiting for a rebate from TigerDirect? Good luck with that. In a suit filed last Friday, Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum is charging the company with, among other things, promising customers that rebates would arrive in about 8-10 weeks of submission, when in fact "a vast number of customers experienced delays ranging from one to more than eight months, before receiving their promised rebates, if at all." The suit also charges TigerDirect with engaging in "deceptive and unfair trade practices."  More Â»
