Reader Ziemowit has a good point. Some big box stores loudly proclaim their "PRICE GUARANTEE" signs but then actually do some stuff that make them irrelevant. The guarantee is supposed to be that they will match any competitor's price. But when you have a number of manufacturers making products with packaging and SKUs just for that one retailer, then you can't do a price guarantee because no one else carries that specific model. Systemax, the same company that now owns TigerDirect and the CompUSA brand name, devoured the remains of Circuit City and relaunched it. Unfortunately, this zombie retailer seems to have the collective customer service skills of...well...zombies. Kelly ordered a laptop, which is waiting around to be shipped. Florida AG Sues TigerDirect For 'Continually Blaming Customers' For Rebate Delays

In a suit filed last Friday, Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum is charging the company with, among other things, promising customers that rebates would arrive in about 8-10 weeks of submission, when in fact "a vast number of customers experienced delays ranging from one to more than eight months, before receiving their promised rebates, if at all." The suit also charges TigerDirect with engaging in "deceptive and unfair trade practices." More »
