An amusing letter purporting to be from Cash4Gold telling a customer to please stop sending them gold-painted rocks and making filthy demands has been making the rounds (read it inside). Cash4Gold supports legislation designed to regulate it and its competitors, according to a letter from the company's president, Jeff Aronson. "Cash4Gold supports HR 4501, the Guarantee of a Legitimate Deal Act, and the provisions outlined in the bill," Aronson wrote to two congressman who are backing the bill. More »

At the beginning of February, Cash4Gold stopped suing the two ex-employees Michele Liberis and Vielka Nephew. What a year! Consumerist got sold, sued, and dished scoop after scoop, we relaunched on a new platform with a new look and mascot, and held our first reader meetup, we became a non-profit, and started taking donations, got invited by the White House to interview top administration officials (several times), and were entered in as part of the Congressional record, hired new folks and bid adieu to dear friends, got some snazzy plaques, and for this first time had a story that we broke receive massive global pickup. We couldn't be here without your support and story tips, or the generous patronage of Consumers Union. Here's to even more pro-consumer ass-kicking in 2010, and a look back at the 22 greatest Consumerist posts of 2009!
