Well you will have to show that a) the statements are demonstrably false, b) the eatery knew that they were false but stated them anyway, and c) that you have suffered economic harm.

There's a pretty high bar here, especially for Verizon which is effectively a public figure.

I think you mean trademark, not copyright.

And, strictly speaking, you could copyright a single word, assuming that word was used as a specific artistic expression. You would not be able to control all uses of the word, just that specific expression, but it is possible.

Yes they are. My wife and I do buy some of the K-cups, but we try not to use them and save them for when we're rushing out the door or when we have company. Otherwise, which is pretty much twice per day we use the reusable filter.

Sorry, you might need to brush up on your copyright law and the law of torts. When you claim a tort (harm) from someone the courts generally take a dim view if you took no advantage of reasonable avenues that you had to reduce the impact of the tort.

The DMCA implements a process of notification and take-down that is supposed to encourage the reduction of harm prior to the involvement of the courts. There is no "requirement" to send a notice, but if your behavior does indeed show a pattern of having allowed harm to occur such that you might have greater leverage to litigate, the judge is going to hold that against you.

You know, I'm not even sure the mover misrepresented it--never attribute to competence or deliberate act what is often simple incompetence or ignorance.

Yeah you're right. This may have been true (somewhat) when computers used swap space constantly, although even that wasn't a straightforward correlation.

The statement in the article just looks stupid: "Install a new hard drive. This is a more expensive option, but it will vastly increase the speed of your computer."

Vastly? and this person is an IT Pro?

Just a thought--it is possible that the language you used may have had a role in the conflict. You wrote here, "menace" which is evaluative as opposed to simply expressing objective concern for how the noise from the dog may affect your living arrangements.

I realize you may not have used language like that, but folks often overlook that when conflict arises.
