Most CSR's are required to manage 3 to 4 live chats at a time. It's no wonder they all seem like morons -- no matter how intelligent they truly are. It's easy to get your wires crossed when you're trying to do 4 things at once.

CSR here, and I love contact forms. Not because it's a bigger PITA for the customer -- it certainly may be -- but it makes it waaaay more likely that your complaint/concern will be routed to the right department.

If you email a company -- even to an email address that might sound *somewhat* relevant -- there's always a good chance of that email getting lost. Or simply deleted by a single team member working a shared inbox in Outlook. With contact forms, there's usually a tracking/audit and thus some layer of accountability.

I work in a call center. There are a LOT of things that CSR's can do, but only if you ask. Certain freebies (like waiving your billing fee or late charges) are only available to those who have the guts to ask. We can't always offer them if you only *hint* toward wanting them -- so, just be explicit and ask.

Yup, agreed. And keep in mind that your CSR might not even have the freedom to stand up and stretch when she needs to, let alone get up and use the restroom. These sorts of workplace restrictions completely drain CSR motivation to actually perform well on the phones.

Excellent. I'll one-up you, perhaps, with a coupon for Monistat when I got an antibiotic Rx filled.

Quite frankly, I MISS these kinds of stories. You don't see them too often anymore now that CU is running the show.

No lie: a few months ago at Walgreens, I filled a script for a long-term antibiotic and I got a register coupon for a yeast infection cream.
