It's not an upmarket product until it comes in tiny little glass bags as my complimentary ketchup whenever I buy a Big Mac.

Just Because People Are Buying Tablets Doesn't Mean They Are Paying For News Content

Considering people balked at Netflix's price rise from $6/m for unlimited movies and tv, I fail to see how big news thinks people will pay $20-25/m for content freely available elsewhere.

Feds Tell California To Shut Down Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Within 45 Days

There's lots of talk about "medical", but if you actually look at the clientele it's more along the lines of Jay and Silent Bob rather than poor old grandma suffering with arthritis. Not to mention the fact I'm related to people who specifically researched and rehearsed symptoms at gaining the medical cards. "Oh noes, I am highly depressed and have ADD and can't hold a job and everything. Gimme gimme!"

I'm with the Feds on this. The federal government always has the final say.

Don't know about America; Australian law requires a retailer to honor the price if the customer has already paid in full (credit card, debit card, etc). It's considered an agreed contract by both parties by the time the customer is charged.

Medical Marijuana User: Papa John's Driver Ratted Me Out To The Cops

This is a gray area.

At face value, it can be construed as an invasion of privacy. The flipside is that the driver was invited to the house. But what if the driver had been right, and the girl was in danger? Would he still be in trouble? Would he get a nice bonus for being so attentive?

Be careful which side of the fence you're on. You don't want to become a hypocrite.

Could never understand why the market wasn't allowed to let the farmers compete.

Consumers want sugar, always have. Not some weird blancmange of a grain that takes more water to grow than many other resources.

If her manager knew in advance of her health problems, it should be allowed to slide. If she's been hiding it for X years, or neglected to report it to new managers, then it's on her. Walgreens can choose to revoke it, but not use it as a PR stunt.

Netflix: Restricting Streams To One Per Account Was A Glitch

They hire an outside firm, Akamai, to handle the infrastructure. While unfeasible for mere mortals, it's beyond useful for large data content providers.

The amount of data they send out is not per MB either; that measurement went out with the dawn of DSL. These days we deal in TB simply for the massive scale. And, since the data farmed out from the various locations is so high, Netflix gets a deal.

I'd be willing to bet that peering backbone ISPs are also cutting deals with each other to shift the data out at a cut rate, too.
