If You Enjoy $200 Disposable Coffeemakers, Buy A Keurig

These failures are the coffee gods telling you to stop using K-Cups. The quality of coffee and the cost per serving are terrible -- even if you go through the hassle of loading your own k-cups

French press is a good option, or if you like the single serve option, I recommend buying an espresso machine. Pull a shot of expresso and dump it into a coffee cup 3/4 full of hot water. You don't need to only use dark roasted espresso beans -- any will work. Total time, about 60 seconds.

The share price of Green Mountain Coffee (owners of Keurig) dropped almost 50% recently. Perhaps the market is finally realizing that Keurig produces crappy machines that cost a lot of money to produce an inferior cup of coffee.

The U.S. Mint Halts Production Of $1 Coins Because No One Wants Them

That 50MM in savings is misleading. Paper bills are more expensive to maintain in circulation over the long-term -- a paper bill lasts less than 2 years in circulation before it needs to be destroyed and replacement printed, while there's a good chance that you've touched a 30+ year old coin the last time you emptied your pockets or purse of change.

"Nobody wants them?" That's crap. Push them into circulation and pull a corresponding amount of paper bills. The average person may not (yet) prefer them, but would that person refuse the money if that's all the salesperson, toll collector, or vending machine offered?

You want to see them take off? Sell them to banks for $0.995 apiece. Suddenly they'll be all the rage at vending machines and gas and sips, and the $7MM bucks that the Reserve 'lost' is recouped in both reduced storage costs and reduced paper bill printing costs...

"Don't try to add any additional syrup to that Frappuccino, however, as it is not covered under the food stamp rules."

If only SNAP recipients could use those funds to charge up a Starbucks card. That way, after 20 drinks, they'd get syrups for free. That's actually saving the SNAP program money! Oh, wait. nevermind.

Starbucks Busted For Hidden Fee On Bagged Coffee

I don't think it's a weights and measures problem. The 7.5 oz case was because the guy was rushing my order, and in the other cases, I'm pretty sure the woman who ground my coffee the two previous times may think there are 12 oz in a lb rather than 16. The extra 1/2 ounce is the bag they put the coffee in...

I'm treating it a bit as a fun social anthropology experiment to see if she does the same thing a few times.

It is bulk product. If you buy the coffee in smaller than 1lb bags, you'll often see that they fill the mall bags from a much larger (maybe 2lb, maybe 5lb) bag.

How is coffee different from any other food sold by the pound (think veges or deli foods) that is prorated to the nearest 100th of a pound?

That's great! I live in MA and buy a half pound of ground espresso every 4-5 days (can't afford a fancy burr grinder). It always pissed me off that I was paying $7.95/ half pound on $12.95 / lb espresso beans.

So here's my new frustration. They short the weight every time. I weigh my coffee grounds to make espresso, so I've got this nice digital scale in my kitchen. Last 3 bags: 6.25oz, 6.5 oz, 7.5 oz. (including the bag).

Lucky for GetEmSteveDave, it doesn't require any actual singing talent to sing in the style of Rebecca -- all you need is an autotuner.

Can't wait to see the video.
