Report: Warner Bros. Will Stretch New Release Rental Window From 28 To 56 Days

When I was younger (and had no money to spend on gas nevermind entertainment like movies) I pirated a lot. Now that I'm older, though, I want to pay and get things the convenient way. Making me spend $20-$30 to buy a movie I will likely only watch once is asinine though. I have no desire to build a massive collection of movies, since my own personal history tells me I won't make ANY use of that collection. Instead of driving me towards piracy, however, it will just drive me towards alternate forms of entertainment. The harder you make it for people to consume your content, the less money you are going to get for it.

Library Sends Police After 5-Year-Old Girl To Tell Her To Pay Up Or Return Two Overdue Books

But they had valuable stuff that was 2 years overdue! Are we supposed to just let people take whatever they want from the library and return it only if they feel like it? What else, in this situation, could the library have done to get the stuff returned?

Who Is Responsible When A Shopper Loses Items He Just Bought?

Do you want to be right and lose future business or write it off as the cost of doing business and ensure that you keep the customer happy? Why is this so hard to understand?

It's like most things in life, it's not always best to be right. This is in reference to interactions with:
1) Significant other
2) Boss
3) Customer
4) Wait staff
5) Police officers
6) Jurors

Yes, you might technically be correct in your stance, but it could cause you to:
1) Break up
2) Get fired
3) Lose the customer for life
4) Have your food abused
5) Be fined for all the little things most cops let go, or be harassed within the powers granted by law
6) Lose any sympathy you may have had, thereby sealing your own fate of a convinction (when guilty of course, but maybe on that thin edge between guilty by the letter of the law and guilty by the spirit of the law).

So no, it's not the store's responsibility to pay for the items, but are you willing to risk what it takes to be right?

This Craft Store Really Doesn't Trust Its Customers

This doesn't surprise me. I dated a girl in high school that was, at first glance, a typical "good girl". She was smart, driven, went to church and the youth group, and was very responsible. And yet she shoplifted (apparently a lot, though I never caught her doing it), and the number one thing she would steal were little trinkets and things. She stole for the rush of it, but stealing small things allowed her to remain discreet and not get caught. Craft stores are full of these little things that are easy to steal, and the neighborhood it is in makes no difference.

Teen Sentenced For 2 To 6 Years For Mugging Man For 7 Cents

Thank you, the articles that I've seen keep having this "aww, poor kid, it was just 7 cents!" angle to them while barely mentioning that they beat the crap out of an old man to rob him. Just because he had no money doesn't mean the kids should just get off easy. He had a chance to admit to his part in the robbery, refused, tried his luck with the system and lost. Zero sympathy. Want to know how I manage to have a clean record? I don't commit felonies.

Google Maps Error Makes Guests Miss Weddings And Funerals

I don't understand the question. The directions that they were given said Short Hills Avenue. It searched and found Old Short Hills Road. That right there is enough to realize that there is one of each and I would double check with somebody that actually knows where they are going as to the correct location. I really don't understand the question, because I, in fact, do NOT know the area, and yet I was able to figure out fairly easily that there is a road and an avenue.

The Road vs Avenue difference is the biggest red flag to me. And I kind of just used your post as a jumping point to address what seems to be a common trend, sorry. I guess you're right though, computers might not be smart, but people can be really really dumb.

Why would you assume that google maps is more correct than the people that are getting married at that church? It's scary that you would assume a faceless computer would know better than the people that operate the church or the people who want their guests to go to the church. Have you ever gotten your own address wrong? Ever added/forgotten/changed words such as "old" or "road" with "avenue"? Yet you'd trust google's guess more?

That's not the point, the point is that there was a pretty major problem, and instead of just fixing it both companies are passing the buck and making it the customer's problem, which is unacceptable. Mistakes happen, but these companies are fully in control of the resolution and they don't care.
