My husband and I got our rings from Blue Nile. I cannot recommend them enough - no hassle, and great service, even when we had to send back my engagement ring because my now-husband ordered it 3 sizes too big.

UPS Drives To Your House Specifically To Not Deliver Packages

I know many of the UPS drivers in my town, and while most are awesome people, there are a few jerks who just get through the day with as little work as possible.

It's their union that sucks: my UPS driver sexually harassed me (groped me, pushed me into a corner, and kissed me before I hit him in the gut) and I heard from another driver about another sexual harassment case a few streets over. Did either harasser get fired or suspended? Nope! Slaps on the wrist for them both.

The only thing that gets UPS employees fired is stealing merchandise. Harassing people, driving like a jerk, and even KILLING people is tolerated as long as you don't open those packages!

I just yell at all the fair-weather commuters and shame them publicly for not calling out "passing" when they pass with 2 inches to spare, run stop signs/lights, or salmon against traffic.

My bicycle gets inspected (by me) every time I ride. Unlike cars, bikes are inexpensive to maintain and simple to fix. As for insurance, my bike is covered by my renter's insurance against theft or damage. Collision insurance is not needed, as if I hit your car, I will do very little damage; if you hit me on my bike, there will be a LOT of damage that your insurance will pay for.

I would be happy to pay bike registration when I get bike-only highways built in this country. Until then, I'll keep using my bike for free on the highways built for a car-culture.

How about buying a smaller sedan or station wagon for your daily driving and price out renting a truck for those camping trips? I guarantee you'd save money vs. buying a huge, gas guzzling truck.

You can always try biking the route to work on a day off and see how you feel.

It's not an all or nothing proposition - give it a shot!

Here are my bike commuting tips:

- Get a bike computer with a clock on it. It helps me pace myself so I'm not late to work.
- Get panniers and pack your work clothes/toiletries/makeup the night before so you'll have fewer excuses to avoid biking in the morning.
- Baby wipes are amazing at doing a quick clean-up in the the mornings.

I do get sweaty, so I spend the first 15-30 minutes at my office cooling down. Then I go into the bathroom and change from my bike clothes into my work clothes, wash my face, put on deodorant, make-up, etc.

I've been doing it for a year now with no complaints or problems! Give it a shot.
