GameStop Made Me Buy Cables So They Could Test My Xbox Trade In
Story smells. Every GameStop has an Xbox 360 hooked up for demo purposes. Unplug it and use the cables already hooked up to the TV to test the unit.
Congratulations Comcast; You're The Worst Company In America!
Just curious... why was Monsanto not even in the brackets? They are BY FAR the worst company in America and headquartered in Creve Coeur, Missouri.
Couple Says Best Buy Is Holding Data Hostage For $1,500
I'm not saying GeekSquad is blameless, but there are several things about this story that stink:
"We bought a PC about 5 years ago, which has become our children's computer."
"We bought the extended warranty for the computer so we brought the tower in to the (redacted), NH store to get the CD replaced over 3 weeks ago."
Problem #1 - I have not seen an extended warranty (at Best Buy or anyplace else) that will cover something for 5 years.
"My husband would have replaced the CD drive himself, but then it would invalidate the warranty."
Problem #2 - I haven't seen an extended warranty that would be voided by doing something as simple as replacing a CD drive.
"We are losing thousands of photos of our children, and a lot of personal and professional files."
Problem #3 - You said originally that this had become the children's computer. What are thousands of photos, personal and professional files doing on the kids computer? Wouldn't that stuff be on, you know, YOUR computer?
Best Buy To Employees: Survive The Meltdown By Making Customer Service A Priority
Agreed. I went to my local CC figuring to throw them a bone in tough economic times.
Hellboy II - new release DVD/Blu-Ray - Not in stock.
Gears of War II - new release Xbox 360 game, sold 2.1 million copies on Friday, not in stock.
Dead Space DVD - in stock.
So I spent $20 when I could have spent $110. DOH!
Best Buy To Employees: Survive The Meltdown By Making Customer Service A Priority
I've sworn off Best Buy for this Christmas due to bad experiences shopping for games.
A couple weeks ago I went in to buy Fable II... it's a hot new release, it's out, Best Buy's website shows it in stock in my local store... so I head over at lunch to buy it.
The clerks show it in stock in their system but nobody can find the game.
I waited for a half an hour (1/2 of my lunch) and eventually they turned it up. So I bought it, all was right with the world.
The next week, two more big releases, Little Big Planet for the PS3 and Fallout 3 (multi).
Again, same store, same problem. This time I walked, went to a local shop after work and they were more than happy to take my $130. I considered buying the new Guitar Hero game as well which would have put me at $190.
I sent Best Buy an e-mail outlining this, I had had problems with them before (trying to buy a game that was locked in a case and nobody could find the key.) They were kind enough to offer a $30 gift certificate for my trouble but I told them to keep it. I already bought the games I wanted.
But the problem seems to be they are so worried about people stealing games they're making it impossible for people to actually BUY games.
Woot Customer Demands Non-Existent Black iPod Headphones
The solution is simple... Point to the last 10 years of iPod advertising featuring, EXCLUSIVELY, white headphones.
iPods have always only come with white headphones. It's the customers fault for not realizing this.
Man Sues Doctors For Amputating Penis
Here's what I don't get... how is it that nobody knew he had cancer before he got on the operating table?
I'm not a surgeon, but I would expect before any operation there would be this thing called "an exam"? Shouldn't that have turned up any abnormality severe enough to require amputation?
Comcast: "The Patriot Act" Mandates We Need Your SSN
Has nothing to do with the Patriot Act, it has to do with consumer credit.
Phone companies and cable companies are essentially extending you credit with the service. You're agreeing to pay for any extraneous costs (i.e. Pay Per View, text messaging overages, etc.) that you may incur in addition to the regular monthly service fee.
This is why they ask for your SSN. The Comcast rep was just being a douchebag.
Two Economists From The University Of Chicago Explain What The Hell Just Happened
You can over-think it all you want, but it all boils down to one thing... Greed.
The system of stocks that publicly traded companies wrap up in has one severe fatal flaw: Your stock price doesn't depend on just being profitable... it depends on being MORE profitable. More profitable than your competitors and more profitable than you, yourself, were this time last week, last month, last quarter, last year.
The problem is that this isn't sustainable and when companies are up against the gun to turn bigger profit they will engage in questionable practices (Enron) or market manipulation (Exxon).
That Bear Sterns, Freddie, Fannie and all the rest were victims of this mind-set shouldn't surprise anyone.
