A Cheaper Starbucks Latte: Order 2 Espresso Shots, Pour Own Milk
As a broke grad student, I've been making ghetto mochas at home for a while. Half and half + super strong instant coffee + sugar + chocolate syrup = success!

14 Borders Stores To Be Reborn As Books-A-Million
BAM just opened its first used bookstore, 2nd and Charles, in an old Goody's in a Birmingham suburb. It's a fantastic store, and the free book bins out front often have some neat finds.
14 Borders Stores To Be Reborn As Books-A-Million
I was actually in a BAM last night (in Birmingham, no less) and posted to my facebook about how irritated I was that while the 'social sciences' section took up half a rack with most of its content nearing 10 years old, the bibles section was about 10x as big, and there was an even larger section of christian readings.
Of course, being from Alabama, I promptly got flamed about it by my family, but still. If I wanted to go buy a bible or some christian literature, I would go to LifeWay or, you know, a church.
Alabama Brewery Owner Moonlights As Detective To Track Down Stolen Kegs
$50 deposit, ha! Around here it's a $100 deposit minimum, and that has to be paid in cash. I do miss the good ol' days at UGA, where you could just give them a check for the deposit, and they'd give you the check back once the keg was returned. Just rip up the check, nothing comes out of the bank. Or you could just leave the check with them for the next keg, and the next.. and the next.... yeah.

What's even more sad is that Avondale Brewing hasn't really started sending kegs out to distributors, so you can't buy their beer in a bar yet. Their only appearance so far has been at Magic City Brewfest last weekend (which I always miss, because my niece's birthday party ALWAYS falls on Brewfest weekend)...
40 kegs is a lot for an upstart like this. The fact that BPD won't even take the low-hanging fruit and hasn't nabbed them yet is ridiculous. I mean, I know property crime is basically meaningless to police, but when you have an opportunity to at least increase your arrest rate slightly for them - take it, fools!
Create An Emergency Kit For Your Pet
This thread would've been a million times more useful -before- the Alabama tornadoes, but thanks for it.
GameStop's New Preorder Bonus: Dead Roaches
Am I really the first to notice that the receipt shows that OP used a loyalty card for the 10% discount - the same loyalty card you pay something like $10 a year for, get the lame Game Informer subscription for, etc etc.
I mean, yeah, roaches are gross, they shouldn't have been there in the first place when put on the shelf, much less missed at time time of sale. The service was crappy. All points of agreement.
I'm just saying, it's odd that someone who swore off GameStop years ago would have a still working loyalty card, or would purchase one to get a few pennies off the used games. Hrm!
Man Sues All-You-Can-Eat Sushi Joint Because He Didn't Want To Eat Rice
I tried flagging your comment for being all hatefully racist and stuff, but the captcha seems to be malfunctioning (seriously, a captcha to flag a comment?). So, I will just mock you briefly, and then add a semi-intelligent thought, but not bother to connect the dots for you.
Sometimes, civil suits are important in determining the scope of a particular law or set of laws, and sometimes they are instrumental in defining public policy. Fee shifting in such cases is hardly appropriate. However, in the case of lawsuits that can easily be defined as 'frivolous' (which is a difficult term to define in and of itself), it would be appropriate.

Protect Your Dog By Denying Him Turkey Bones
Ugh. Raw bones are FINE, as are vertebral bones. The long bones (ie, wings and legs) are the ones that splinter when cooked, because the bones themselves are formed differently.
Of course, the unwashed masses don't understand the difference, so I'm not surprised that the common line is still 'ZOMG DONT GIVE THEM ANY BONES EVER'.
