Sorry, No Mortgage: Experian Says That You're Dead
@cordeliapotter: You can go to their websites to obtain their addresses, send them a certified letter stating it needs to be removed from your credit report. They are under legal obligation to research it and if they find it shouldn't be on there it has to be removed within 30 days of receipt of your certified letter. Sometimes they work a little slower if just receiving the letter from you so it helps to have an attorney or paralegal write up the letter so it shows it's coming from a law firm.

@bones11: Correction 1998 is the year it was reported.
Sorry, No Mortgage: Experian Says That You're Dead
Same company I work for. I actually just talked to a guy this last week who when I pulled his credit report showed he had a bankruptcy from 2008. Now I know it's illegal to continue reporting a bankruptcy from that far back, it's usually 7 or 10 years but I had to go by what my system says or I get in trouble. I recommended he contact the credit bureaus and he said he had no idea how so he'll just deal with it. Apparently not everyone is as invested in their credit as most, it shocked me that he had absolutely no desire to get it fixed and removed from his credit. Oh well.
Identity Thieves Victimize Hancock Customers In Several States
@Snakeophelia: Possibly because mostly older women shop there and maybe the thieves thought they don't check their bank accounts as frequently or as in much detail as they should...? Just throwing it out there. I know my grandma shops there a ton and if a charge came up on her cc this big she most likely wouldn't know how to take care of it and would pass the ball to my grandpa.
Citibank To Charge Fees On Checking Accounts
I can't believe more people don't have an account at a credit union. Honestly, what good are big banks? I learned when I was 13 what terrible things banks do and never again will I do my business with one. Had an account with First Security, which was taken over by Wells Fargo. I would put all my allowance and babysitting money in to it, at one point in time they started charging fees to people who only had savings accounts and after two months of that I took all my money out (a whole $300) and opened an account at my credit union. Better rates, they care more about my business, they haven't messed anything up, free checks (only used for rent), free overdraft protection account, the list goes on.
Something crazy I had one of my customers point out to me the other day, he just moved here from Florida, goes through Bank of America. Anyways, I guess there are 0 BofA's in Utah. Never knew that until Friday. I guess they don't consider Utah part of America and quite honestly I hope they keep their bank out of this state, we don't need their "services."
AT&T Can't Provide Service, Won't Let Customer Cancel
@smirkette: I used to have T-Mobile and lived in a dead zone. The sales rep assured me I was apart of the "green" on their map and shouldn't experience any issues. I bought the service and it started out fine for the first few weeks, after that any call I made from my home would get dropped. I started calling them everytime a call dropped and at first they started out giving me 100 free minutes here and there, eventually after calling 8 or 9 times a day someone from their corporate office called and told me to take my number elsewhere and I wouldn't incur the ETF. There is a clause in your contract stating the provider can terminate your service if they deem you as a harassment, I suggest the OP tries that route.
For every dropped call, immediately place a call to 611 and speak with a service rep. It took me two weeks to get results.
Reach Comcast Corporate Escalations
@JGKojak: and more than likely it is, but at midnight the cost of sending a team of on-call technicians to go investigate and fix a problem that could potentially take a few hours to resolve is expensive. Which is why that procedure is in place, so the company doesn't take "bets" that it's an outage and send techs out when it could be user error(not saying it was). I agree though three days is a long time to wait before they can send a tech out. In my area it's usually within 24hours.
Reach Comcast Corporate Escalations
@bhr: agreed. It takes 5 people from one neighborhood to call in about service being down for it to be a reported all-service outage, which in turns triggers technicians to be dispatched immediately. For those first 4 callers, a technician is just scheduled to go out with the first available date and time. Once caller 5 reports it, those technicians on the first 4 callers are canceled so it can be fixed asap.
Dell Gets Nosey When Attempting To Verify Order
I used to do verifications for a large online musical instrument retailer. We had this process but we never verified ssn and birthdate with a sub because we didn't know that information. Instead, we had a specific line for each credit union and credit card company to call. We gave that rep the credit card number, the customers name and address. All that rep said is yes or no but wouldn't tell us which bit of info was wrong, we would then call the customer back to try and reconfirm the right cardholder information, then repeat the process until we got a match with the financial institution.
The only difference is we were handling orders of $1000 and more on a regular basis.

Sorry, No Mortgage: Experian Says That You're Dead
@wrjohnston91283: Right the score may not factor in but anytime and anywhere he applies for credit it's going to show and most companies are going to hold that against him, even though it's an error on the credit bureaus end.
