How To Always Get An Exit Row Seat

I guess I could have put all of this in one post, but whatever....

I can't speak to the smaller guys, but the majors (United, American, Delta, etc.)... almost all of the time, the exit rows are occupied by elites/frequent flyers. While most elites, if they book early enough, may get upgraded to the front, the others that book last minute or are low tier status will be in these rows. The only time I've seen non-elites is the middle exit row seats. If you don't care if you are in the middle seat, go for it... but don't be surprised if the answer is "Sorry, the exit row is full."

The above is definitely in effect for peak flying times. If you're flying late Wednesday night, you may get lucky. I cannot see this working if you're flying Friday or Sunday and going through a hub.

Another reason the whole thing may backfire and you'll only get to pre-board (in the case of casts, crutches, any other item as such).....

Those in the exit row need to be able to open the door in the event of an emergency (on their own too, if necessary). The rest of the plane doesn't need someone that can't fully move to be sitting in one of those seats.

At least on British Airways, buying one of those scores you a bulkhead seat.. not an exit seat.

I have to imagine some of these "suggested tips" (ie crutches, casts, etc.) may not work. They will not bump/move an elite that already has a seat in an exit row. The airline may just allow you to pre-board and, with that of course, allow you to take your time... read as: the whole plan backfiring.

Delta's $952 Million In Baggage Fees Is More Than United And Continental Combined

Most people are clueless when it comes to travel. I was on business recently and, for a six day trip, a guy had two LARGE suitcases. What the heck could possibly be in there? This was a guy too... females may have more to pack and take along, but a guy shouldn't need that much stuff.

Travel: Choosing The Best Credit Card

Absolutely agree. The annual fee is high, but they recently added some great travel perks. Card holders now get access to Priority Pass, they pick up the tab for the Global Traveler program, they improved their rental car relationship, and low/no foreign exchange fees. Add on top the general lounge access program and you have a well rounded card.*

*ONLY worth it if you travel a lot. You must travel a lot to off set the price of the card, otherwise, yes, it is a waste of money.

Valve Disables Steam Account, Won't Explain Why

The half-life engine powers many different Valve games. If you only ban one game, cheats can still spill-over to other games.

Surprising this just made it onto Consumerist. Valve has a very hard-cut cheating policy and I'm glad it's in place. Cheaters blow. You're responsible for the safety and well-being of your account. Deal with it.

Is Verizon's Unlimited iPhone Data Plan Worth It?

Ouch. Regardless if you want/use the unlimited option, talk about a kick in the ass to AT&T. They lose the iPhone exclusivity and now have to deal with another carrier offering an unlimited plan for it.

LG's Customer Service Reps Are Nice, But My Webcam Is Still Messed Up

"When I was done with all the chat boxes I got a questionnaire from LG asking if they were pleasant to deal with. Of course they were...they were just not helpful."

Then I hope you marked every bubble/checkbox/whatever "poor". If you gave good ratings, then the corporation won and you just helped the executive get their bonus.

They were NOT pleasant to deal with. They read from a script and you still have a messed up webcam.
