My Wife's 90 year old grandmother lives in an apartment by herself, can't use a cell phone because of her hearing aid, had her land-line service "randomly" stop working about a week ago, and when they finally admit that it's likely their problem, can't send someone out until September 10.
Now, she's relatively independent for her age, but part of that is the safety net that having a phone provided. When all this is explained to verizon reps, they claim that they can't prioritize calls at all, and she's got to wait behind every other problem, all the way down to some guy complaining his ping isn't low enough.
