Activating Google Voice On My New Verizon Account Somehow Undoes Cancellation Of My Old T-Mobile Plan
The AT&T/T-Mobile merger has not happened yet. If you'd like to give the FCC your opinion on the matter, they are still taking public comments. Here's a link to the FCC comment page. The issue is listed as number 11-65.
Sony Extends Identity Theft Protection Offer For PlayStation Network Users Through july
When I found out you have to sign up with CC info just to browse the playstation store, I thought that was a strange way to go about things. Wouldn't you want your customers to see things they might want to buy to encourage them to make purchases?
Then I realized, it's about the value of the data they gather. Too bad they never bothered to try to protect what they deemed so valuable.
Sony Not Sure If Credit Card Info Was Compromised During PSN Outage
Always thought it was strange that they wanted a credit card just to browse the Sony online store through a PS3. You know, because lots of people don't even have credit cards. Also, they sell Sony giftcards. So, if you get a giftcard for the Sony online store, I guess you'll have to apply for a credit card to use it?
Sure, I guess you could bypass it with all zeros or something. Just seems a feeble sales tactic. Want to see the online store? Give us your CC info. We promise, you'll find something you want. That, or you know, we'll lose your data to a third party during a hack, for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
No one hands a shopkeeper a credit card to browse a brick and mortar store.
Video Games You Can Play While Injured
The X: Beyond the Frontier series (X2, X3) is good for playing with an injury. You can play the game at a slower pace, and still have fun, due to the heavy strategy and micro management aspects of the game. Or, just sit back and haul some cargo around as sort of an interstellar trucker. Good way to pass some time.
Also, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri is an intriguing slower paced game for playing during recovery. The turn based gameplay gives you plenty of time to think up your next move. The societal advancements feel like a good book.
Any of these games are still fun even when you're not injured, but these stand out in my mind as requiring less twitch reflex, and more mental aptitude.
Senate Passes Bill Banning Loud Commercials
Wow, it's great to hear that congress is listening to the people on this one. These loud commercials have been ridiculous for some time now. I applaud the bipartisanship shown by the GOP in not blocking this bill.
Too bad they can't show this kind of unity on things like passing the bill to end outsourcing of American jobs.
Republicans block Democratic outsourcing bill
I mean, I know the GOP wants to halt legislative progress to make the Democrats seem ineffectual, but it seems like even the Republicans should stand behind a plan to bring more jobs back to America. Let's start the recovery of the middle class already.
You Order 2 iPhones, AT&T Ships 4, Sends You To Collections
Wow, that was fast. This story just popped on Reddit about 7 hours ago, and one of the first things people suggested that the OP do, was to send out an EECB, and contact Consumerist.

Betcha it gets resolved quickly now due to "taking this seriously" and such. Hi to all my fellow Redditors.
This Cellphone Ad Needs More Anxiety!
"I remember a Verizon one where a girl had to have a llama and it was socially awkward."
I think maybe you're missing a word or two here, because that just sounds weird. She had to have a llama what? Over for dinner? Did the llama use her cellphone to make reservations somewhere? I can make no sense of this in its current form.
Did the girl actually have (birth) a llama? That does indeed sound socially awkward, and entirely inappropriate for a cell phone commercial. Obsession: for llamas
PayPal Thinks I Stole My Own Identity, Won't Give Me My Dollar Back
One of the most deceitful and corrupt companies around, and it's only gotten worse in recent years. I've seen them tie up thousands of dollars for weeks at a time, and even go into a persons bank account and drain it. Many people don't realize that linking a Paypal account to your bank account is a 2 way street, and they have complete control and authority to leave your account empty or even overdrawn. You agree to it by simply signing up for an account.
Paypal is very obviously a type of bank. Regulation is the only thing that's going to improve things with Paypal, because right now they have too much power. They are the only game in town, and they've worked hard to maintain this monopoly.
If Paypal isn't run by the mafia, then they could teach the mob lessons. By doing these crazy things as a company, they get away with actions that would land an individual in jail. I'd like to nominate them for "Worst Company in America", if they're not already in the running.
Calling BS On GM's "We Paid The Government Back" TV Ad
Ahhh the bailouts continue. Universal Financial Healthcare exists in America, you just have to be a big company with lots of assets to get it...
Just ask BP.
The Coast Guard has leapt to clean up the mess of their oil spill, at taxpayer expense. Since petroleum distillates are naturally ignitable, doesn't this count as a pre-existing condition? Can we deny them coverage and make them pay to clean it up themselves? Probably not anytime soon. Just ask Exxon. If BP fights it for enough years, they probably won't have to pay much either.
Dill, Baby, Drill ! ???
