Games are most expensive than DVD's or Blurays and have hugely different usage patterns. Once you've watched a DVD most people will immediately return it, that is very untrue with a video game. That requires a greater stock of games. Games also lose their value at a much higher rate that movies.
I think their rates are understandable even if they are higher than I'd like.

Gamefly has always had nearly non-existent customer service staff. I know I had a similar problem when I had canceled for awhile and wanted my credit card information removed from the site. I eventually gave up since the card expired.
Gamefly is a fine service provided everything goes right. They are horrible if you need something they haven't automated.
