FTC Goes After Car Dealers For Lying To Customers About Trade-Ins

About time...

And I work for a dealer! We're just as tired of these ads as consumers are. Nobody listens to the micromachines speed disclaimer at the end of those ads so we're constantly describing just how these programs work when they call and argue "but dealer _____ said they'd pay off my 2009 Hummer I owe $40k on... why won't you?"

I would also like for car dealers to stop claiming national incentives are being offered by them only, or claiming the discounts come from them and not the factory.

What a hillarious stereotype in the first paragraph...

Regardless, I too had problems with leap frog's past execution, and they really stepped it up this time. The software choices are better, and you can even tweak difficulties based on your child's progress.

Leappad Explorer: Meant to be beat up and played with by toddlers, harder to break. At most $99 to replace or less to repair.

Laptop: Meant to be used by adults, easily broken, expensive to fix/replace.

They must assume they're already sold out?

Because they will, thank god my son could care less for either one.

You guys sound fun...

Newsflash, toy companies are in the business to make a profit, so they will advertise at Christmastime.

Imaginext advertises this time of year, and I have no problem getting my son these toys. Watching him create stories in his mind to go with the toys and create dialog back and forth is more creative than some wood blocks and smarter than giving my laptop to the toddler...

There's really nothing wrong with the leapster explorer and pad. I had problems with their stuff in the past because it was too short sided. They've done a much better job with these and the prices are fine for software and the kids are engaged.

I have just gotten the handheld explorer and I can't recomend it enough, and will likely get the iPad knockoff version this Chritsmas for my son.

He feels like he's just as cool as his brother with his DSiXL or us with our iPhones while all the games are educational, and it gives us status reports as to what he's having a hard time with and what he's good at.

Figure we'll keep the pad at home and take the handheld on car rides, etc.
