What Should I Do When I Find A Lost Credit Card: Turn It In, Cancel It Or Try To Contact The Owner?

I didn't realize I'd lost my debit card until a local branch of my bank called to say it was left in their ATM the night before. When I came by to pick it up, the clerk checked it and said it had been cancelled, presumably via the 800 number on the back. No charges (or attempted charges) on it, either. I guessed a good Samaritan had found it, cancelled it, and tried to take it to the bank; since it was closed, they fed it to the ATM instead. I probably would have waited a day and called the bank branch first, but it worked out okay (even with the card replacement fee).

PayPal Rains On Regretsy's Secret Santa Campaign Over Use Of Wrong Button

My Japan-based translation clients don't do checks. PayPal's the best way to pay me for small amounts; their fees are lower than international wire transfer fees.

Still, you can bet I'm looking for alternatives. I donated to this Regretsy fund and am happy that my money hasn't been refunded--it means PayPal didn't get to it in time.

This happened to me at some online retailer when I had put something in my cart and forgotten to check out. I appreciated the reminder. The concept doesn't bother me in the slightest. (I've even heard--I think from ShopSmart--that some places offer you a small discount when they write to remind you about the unpurchased stuff in your cart.)

Same goes for the one in Utica, MI. The one at Oakland Mall in Troy is half exotic carpet store, half sports memorabilia outlet. Go figure.

Yes, but when you unwrap a box of K-cups down to the smallest useable unit, it's still mostly landfill fodder, whereas the smallest useable unit of a Senseo pod can be thrown on a compost pile when you're done with it.

Senseo pods are most often sold loose in a bag. I don't think the bag itself can be recycled, but at least the completely biodegradeable pods inside aren't individually packaged.

Although nowadays I usually buy my pods from an online store that sells them individually wrapped in a plasticky kind of foil (?) and further packaged in cardboard boxes. Win some, lose some.

An acquaintance of mine would go to the Speedway gas station minimart and fill a small coffee cup with creamer. 8+ oz. of creamer for the low, low price of a small coffee. That's theft, and only slightly skeevier than what's being suggested in the OP here.
