Should Companies Advertise To Kids At The Library?
The only place I think truly needs to be an advertising free zone (for children) is public schools. Since school is required, it's keeping kids a captive audience. I think parents have the ability to keep their kids away from it any ads they find inappropriate pretty much anywhere else.
Gay Couples Lose Big On Tax Breaks Because Their Marriages Aren't Recognized
"The Government really should just stop recognizing all marriages when it comes to tax purposes"
Right. Instead of constantly arguing over who should get the benefits of marriage, the government should stop giving any couple couple a tax benefit just because they choose to associate with each other. This *should* be satisfactory to both sides of the argument, because it lets them define their marriage within their community in their own terms, and also removes the possibility for discrimination by the government. I think the fact that people don't care for this solution shows that they are actively looking to punish a lifestyle that they disapprove of, not just trying to protect their own definition of marriage.
Is "No Problem" A Suitable Substitute For "You're Welcome"?
Yes, that's how I see it too. If I really didn't do anything to deserve thanks, I feel weird saying "you're welcome".
What Would You Do If You Found $2,500 In The House You Just Bought?
There was a similar story posted recently about a man who returned $35,000 that he found in his new home. The children of the deceased former owner hadn't known it was there. For some reason that seemed like the obvious "right" thing to do, yet I don't think keeping the $2500 would make me feel too guilty. I guess it was the fact that $35,000 could have been the owner's entire life savings, and it seemed tragic for his family never to know about it. $2500 is not chump change but it's not life changing either.
Target Demands Extra $189 To Exchange Camera No Longer On Sale
"I am not dumb, so this was clearly not user error, rather a defective product sold by Target."
I find this statement hilarious.
Anyway, while I agree with other commenters that the OP's attitude towards people with accents is really not helping his case, Target's policy on this is completely ridiculous. Now that I know about it I will probably skip any promotions at Target for items that could need to be returned.
Buy A Frappuccino With Food Stamps At Oregon Starbucks In Grocery Stores
I don't blame anyone who has gotten away with this. If I had a card I would test the boundaries of it too. The store needs to take responsibility for enforcing the correct policies, or face not being reimbursed by the state for purchases they allowed that violate the rules. Personally I think that all food stamp programs should operate like WIC-- the debit card system should be changed to vouchers for healthy food only. It seems much simpler to administer things that way.
Patient Sues Dentist Who Threatened Legal Action Over Yelp Reviews
I gave a negative Yelp review to a dentist a few years ago. Even though it wasn't posted under my real name, I had the bad judgement to post it before my final follow up appointment (knowing that I would not go back after the followup was over). He had the nerve to ask me about the review during the appointment, citing pressure from the higher ups in the marketing department, to get me to take it down. It was super uncomfortable. That I was offered incentives to take down a bad review about a medical procedure taught me how hard the marketing department of medical offices work to scrub bad reviews off the face of the earth. I'm sure if they thought they had the power, they too would have pursued legal action.
Verizon Wireless Will Watch Everything You Do If You Don't Opt Out
I agree. I opted out a few weeks ago when I got the paper letter about this. I thought their notice was very clear, and there wasn't too much positive sounding marketing speak.
Foreclosure Mill Apologizes For Dressing Up In Halloween Costumes That Mocked Foreclosed Homeowners
I think it's normal for a group of employees to make fun of the annoying customers that they have to serve day in and day out. It doesn't necessarily reflect the organization's feelings, or even the employees true feelings about their purpose. They're just venting. It was in poor taste, but it wasn't meant for anyone outside the organization to see.

Is $51/Lb. Worth The Convenience Of K-Cup Coffee?
Your situation is why I gt a K-Cup 3 years ago. It's working out great for me. I recognize that it's more money than buying by the pound, but I would never brew a pot of coffee just for myself, so when I compare the cost of a k-cup to buying a cup from a coffee place, it's still not bad.
