I just 12 days in China and Vietnam and top be honest with you I didn't really notice a issues, problems with the food. They also eat far less processed food than most American's so even if there are more issues, which there may be, the food is far less altered than the diet that most American's consume. The air is not the best in the world but the food seemed fine

@speedwell, avatar of snark: Ummm if you didn't know, having a terrible diet has a lot to do with the complications many of her patient's experience, most notable atrocious Hemoglobin A1C's, which if poor over a length of time will be a precursor to fun things like kidney failure, neuropathy, ED, and plenty of other awful things. Poor diet helps lead to type 2 diabetes which I guess you're telling me, but poor control (diet, testing, lack of exercise, drinking) will most definitely affect either type 1 or type 2. Sorry, I am well aware of the causes of and issues surrounding diabetes and it's not just because I "sleep with one".

My wife is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and currently takes care of kids with diabetes. Many, MANY times she would like to have said "Quit stuffing your pie whole with crap, soda, sweets and fat and maybe you will be able to still have erection when you turn 25. If you don't stop treating yourself like crap I'm done taking care of you." But she never has, nor will she. She herself has diabetes and has worked remarkably hard to stay healthy (and have 2 extremely healthy babies) and is morally indignant about her patients that don't take care of themselves. In the end though, it is her professional responsibility to suppress those thoughts and provide the best care possible regardless if she is opposed to it, abortion included if she was in reproductive health.

@ilovemom: My experience was the same. I flew them Monday and was amazed at how many people were paying $3.00 for a soda and $5.00 for a super crappy "snack box". They actually had a little machine that took credit cards, unreal.

What's amazing to me are the comments at the newspapers web site regarding the story and how many of them are attacking the reporter and the workers organization. Glad to know that TX doesn't hold the monopoly rights on myopic business rights advocates.

Maybe's it becuase my UHC plan is at the top of the food chain and my company can afford to keep our rates rather low ($260 a month for a family) we have had relatively few problems with UHC and today in fact had a fantastic experince with them on the phone. They quickly found an error the hospital made with a payment that would have cost us over $1000. My wife is also in the medical profession and based on her experinces UHC is far batter than most, especially BC.

Silly state tax. Come to Texas where poor people buying $50 scratch off lotto tickets can fully fund your state. Yes, no state tax and $50...FIFTY! DOLLAR! scratch off's. God I hate myself for living here sometimes.

Wanna See The Red Sox Play The Reds? You Must Also Buy Tickets To Three Other Games

Wow, talk about whiny. The RS are coming to Houston for a three game series in late June and initially the ONLY way to get guaranteed tickets to the game was by purchasing an 11, 12, 13, 27 game package, or season tickets. Yeah, being a lifelong Sox fan from MA I thought this was kind of unfair but I just found a few friends and we all split the package. I got the Sox game and then tickets to three other games. We all won. I don't see what the big deal is...enjoy your home town team and now you have tickets to a few more games.

I used to manage a retail store for Bose. This didn't occur in my store but in the Short Hills, NJ location. A customer purchased a Lifestyle system (worth about $1500). He brought it home and it worked flawlessly. The problem was that he had one random classical disk, an import, in his collection that contained 72 minutes of music. For some reason, we think because the way the disk was configured, the system couldn't play the last track. The guy brought the head unit in and sure enough, it couldn't play the last track. Tried the disk on a few others and the problem persisted; it was the disk, NOT the system. Bose was apologetic but what you can do, we called our tech support, spoke with the product manager, and lead designer for the system trying to find a solution for this guy's ONE track of music. We finally realized that we couldn't do it and offered the guy a refund or a FREE upgrade to a better system because of the inconvenience. He refused and returned the system and proceeded to write a multi page screed to Amar G Bose, the then chairman of the Company (and founder), about our terrible service and awful products. He demanded that we address this problem that was affecting ONE track of music on ONE cd that he owned. The guy was a grade A asshat but we caved and sent him a new system for FREE (the one he returned) because he was so "dissatisfied" with his experience. To this day my friend that was managing the store seethes when he recounts the story because we did everything we could to satisfy the guy, yet he rejected every attempt.
