Some states ban insurance companies from using credit scores in determining rates--like in California for example.

Reader Falls Victim To Spot Delivery Dealership Scam

This whole thing sounds fishy, from this guy who has bad credit, owes friends money, but plans to buy a new 20K car? It sounds unrealistic that a dealership would let someone with such bad credit and who leaves a measly $500 deposit (on a 20K car) to drive off with this car--AND now this guy has put 1300 miles on it--I mean, that is ridiculous as well. Both sides deserve to lose money because they were both acting like idiots. I blame both parties.

Uh oh. I tried to pay my bill online yesterday and today and while the site is up, the bill pay portion is down. My bill is due tomorrow. It sounds like bill pay over the phone is down too. I hope they don't charge me a late fee.

These prices are much too high. Lovastatin and Metformin I know you can get at Target or Wal-mart for $4 a month. Much cheaper than the prices listed.

40 Million Americans Cannot Afford Needed Heath Care Says CDC

@HooFoot:

If you live near a university see if they have a dental school. You can get dental work for much cheaper. I needed oral surgery, estimate was 2500 at traditional dentist (insurance would only cover 1000 so I had to pay other 1500) but then someone told me about a nearby dental school. For the entire surgery the price would be $800 AND the surgery would be performed by the professor, not a student. The professor was French and supposedly a world renowned expert. Sure, I had to let 3 grad students observe the surgery but it cost me a lot less and I was happy with the care I received.

Health insurance is unaffordable for a lot of Americans and for a lot of employers too. As for finding a job with coverage, jobs are changing and fewer are offering the benefits they used to.

I know someone who is self-employed and makes good money but took on a part time job in order to get affordable coverage. She works just enough hours to qualify. She still pays about $200 a month and her employer pays the other half. Bad news, her hours are getting cut which might mean she has to pay the full $400 a month for health insurance IF she can pay the group rate. If she can't get the group rate I shudder at what her price will end up being (single in her 20s). Prior to getting that job she just went without insurance for 2 years because she couldn't afford it.

I know someone who got a letter about the data breach with TJX. She hasn't heard anything since. It's like they forgot about the consumers in this data breach.

I use my 10% off to stock up on groceries as well. I don't have a Super Target but I buy a lot of my non-perishable foods at Target.

Which Is Better: "Store Cards" Or Store Branded Visas?

I get my prescriptions at Target so for me it was totally worth it. With every 10 prescriptions I get a 10% store coupon off everything--including the copays on my prescriptions. Combined my family and I get about 10 prescriptions a month (mostly due to my health condition) so every month I usually get a 10% coupon. Plus Target happens to be one of those stores that sends you a lot of coupons if you are a cardholder. I get lots of great coupons from them on items I really use in addition to my 10% off. I have the store card and have been offered repeatedly if I want the Target visa card, but I don't need it. I use my Target card only at Target, pay it off every month, and I use other rewards cards elsewhere.

The Washington Elite Shop At Costco

Twice I had to host (meaning pay) for a reception after a college music recital, and twice I went and bought (almost) everything at Costco. Even though I came in under budget both times, I had a ton of leftover food that I shared with those who helped me. I also received a lot of compliments. While I mostly used Costco food/platters, I also bought a couple of Wal-mart hot food platters and received compliments on those food too. For nice dishes/trays I asked friends to borrow trays and was able to use flowers I picked as decorations. It takes more work to plan and get everything yourself but in a weird way I was really proud of being able to pull it off and maybe that's what the elite are feeling, instead of hiring someone they kinda did it themselves. As for servers I did it along with friends but I also know people who work as waiters/waitresses who are always looking for extra work. Yes, you bypass the catering firm but if you are on a budget, that's what you gotta do.
