Forcibly taking stuff from A to give it to B because C decided that B needs it more than A is called living in a civilized society?

A giving B stuff out of the goodness of his heart= dandy. C taking stuff from A, no matter what it's intended for= stealing. Not sure why you don't see this.

NEVER STOP SCREAMING EVER. Seriously, if mannequins get even a little more lifelike, I'm going to hole up in a shack in Idaho and spend my time pecking out manifestos on a typewriter.

I still haven't had the guts to go back to The Gap after they started their super-mannequins ad campaign.

Looks like The Post is gambling that it's content is good enough for people to want to pay for. That's a pretty iffy bet.

The best part of The Post is the headlines, which I can see for free in the bodega where I get my coffee and cigarettes from. Sorry, guys.

As crazy as this block of text is, there is a point. Everyone is entitled to a civilized existence- but where do you get the elements of a civilized existence? Why, the government will pay for it! With taxes. That they collect from folks who have jobs and make money by doing stuff. Which is then tithed unwillingly and given to people who don't work as hard- whether by choice or not- and therefore don't make as much money.

Unless doctors work for free in the UK, that NHS health care isn't "free", it's paid for by tax money. And it isn't morally right to confiscate money from people, even if you're planning on spending it on something noble like medicine for poor people or shooting foreigners.

I don't give a damn that this doesn't really 'belong' on Consumerist. This is the most awesome thing I've read in a while. Made my Monday.

Bless you, MB Quick!

Oh, on topic- Elizabeth, honey, you should have got yourself out of there quick. Find someone else to do the mani/pedi. Remember, crazy is highly contagious.

Yes, there's no difference between the police seizing random people and searching them for contraband and making peeing into a cup a condition of getting free money.
