Founder Of FlyersRights Says Delta Hacked Her Email Account
@nstonep: Thanks for pointing out the obvious. I am pretty certain that her lawyer would have done some cursory forensics even before the discovery process gets underway.
Folks here need to realize that the news story is no real indication of the merits of a case, especially before discovery has even started.
Transportation Secretary Would Like To Ask Continental A Few Questions
@Veeber: Uhh, no. They open inward, then swing open. Pay close attention the next time you fly.
Or you could simply read this column by Patrick Smith, a commercial pilot and columnist:
Transportation Secretary Would Like To Ask Continental A Few Questions
@scottboone: And why is that? Do you think that he personally administers the blog and provides its technical expertise?
You can buy used ANYTHING on E-Bay, some of which I wouldn't dare mention.
But just because you can, that's by no means saying that you SHOULD.
Get Ready For More AT&T Data Slowdowns
The best part is that AT&T will eventually raise their data network prices to install new infrastructure.
The Best Cities To Live In During A Recession
I thought that the entry on Durham and saying that people commute from there to jobs in Raleigh was amusing. It's really the other way around. Don't believe me? Come here and see which way the traffic jams in the morning: from Raleigh/Cary to RTP and from Chapel Hill to RTP. In the afternoon, it's in the other direction: towards Raleigh and away from Durham...and towards Chapel Hill.
To be sure, Durham is a nice town, but it ranks fourth in this region in liveability -- behind Raleigh, Cary and Chapel Hill.
iPod Nano Explodes While Charging
Executives in large companies are bombarded constantly by letters, memos, phone calls, vox mail, emails, subordinates, analysts, bla bla bla.
In other words, generally speaking, their attention spans are pretty short. CEOs by nature are strategic big picture guys and only want the pertinent facts. If you are going to write the CEO of pretty much any multi-billion dollar multi-national, keep it short, to the point and reasonable.
FAA To Fine American Airlines $7.1 Million For Safety Violations
They were warned by the FAA, but ignored that and flew planes deemed unsafe anyway. Too bad for them.
I honestly believe AA thinks the fine is excessive because it is far more money than they made flying flights on the aircraft in question. More than likely they willingly chose to fly thinking that they would simply receive a letter of reprimand or a warning.
Sorry, AA. You lost. Make the check payable to the US Treasury.
Best Buy Refuses To Replace Your Defective TV Because You Followed Their Instructions
Putting on my Electrical Engineering hat...
Light bulbs have a given lifespan, and it is certainly longer than roughly 100 days. That does assume that the television is not running 24x7 and is in a normal home environment.
Knowing that, one can logically conclude that there is an underlying problem that is causing the light bulbs to fail before their time. That could be an external source (power anomaly) or manufacturing defect.
The advice to use a UPS is a sound one. It will give you to opportunity for a normal shutdown in the case of a power-outage, it will bridge the inevitable power blinks of a second or two duration, and it conditions the power. In other words, it eliminates the power anomaly aspect of the equation.
If bulbs are STILL burning out, you more than likely have a manufacturing defect that underlies the bulbs. And that most certainly would be warrantied.

DOT To Airlines: Sorry, But People Like To Change Their Underwear
It amazes me that FedEx and UPS can tell you the location of a package at any given moment but the airlines can barely track passengers, much less the luggage they now charge shipping for.
