For me, it's showing up in IE, but not Firefox.
(Also, to provide further relief, I tracked you down and posted your confessions on your Facebook wall. You're welcome!)
How A Travel Hacker Buys An Airplane Ticket
Really? I do something very similar when I fly, and it takes me no more than an hour. If your time is worth more than $200 an hour, shouldn't your assistant be booking your travel?
100 Students Removed From Ryanair Flight Over Baggage Fee Fracas
The Belgian papers are reporting that (according the a local paper from the island) these students had been a complete pain the entire time they were on the island. They supposedly destroyed the apartments they were staying in and were so loud at night that the police was called several times. The group (or at least some large part of it) then caused a disturbance at the airport because of the fee, causing most of them to be kicked out. They're being flown back in small groups over the ocurse of the week. Belgian officials are sounding appropriately embarrassed.
Now we'll be known as the country without a government that sends its bratty kids abroad to annoy the locals. Great.
The Pitfalls Of Buying And Returning Swimsuits Online
Companies aren't always honest about their sizing though. When I tried to buy a suit from Land's End I carefully measured myself and ordered the size suggested by their size chart. When I tried the suit on it was so large on me it wouldn't even stay up without the straps.
It took me two more orders to get one that fit, and I ended up with a suit two sizes smaller than the one they told me to get. Thankfully Land's End offered full refunds and free returns for all the suits I ended up sending back. I agree she should've checked the policy, but I don't think it's a reasonable one for this type of product.
Bride Sues Runaway Groom For $100,000 Wedding
I'm pretty sure I actually told my now-husband that if he got me an engagement ring I'd refuse to marry him. We were poor and had much better things to spend the money on; spending that amount of cash on a piece of jewelry would have been a clear indication of poor financial judgment. Not something I want in a spouse.
He did buy me an antique diamond ring last year, for our 10 year anniversary. But we both have well-paying jobs now, and it looks lovely next to the vintage wrist watch I got him.
These 100 Body Scan Images Should Not Exist
The last time I flew, earlier this year, I actually heard a TSA employee use this exact argument to convince someone to get in the scanner. My husband and I both became highly interested in our carry-ons so they wouldn't see us trying not to laugh out loud at that.
Does A Sliced Bagel Count As "Prepared Food"?
Exactly. Is it prepared if there's only one ingredient, even if it's sliced? Is it prepared if it's ready to eat (in which case you're taxing apples and bananas)? Way too much room to argue. Some other countries charge just one rate for any kind of food; it just seems so much simpler.
Does A Sliced Bagel Count As "Prepared Food"?
What about if I order a chopped salad, no dressing? All they're doing it chopping and tossing; no cooking, no seasoning. But I still think most people would agree it's prepared food.
Really though, this tax rule leaves way too much of a gray area. I've always thought it makes much more sense to tax all food, regardless of location or preparation, at the same rate.
