Is A Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy Attacking My Time Warner DVR?

If you have multiple series recording setup, the series with lower number in the list will have priority over the ones down the list in case of an overlap. So shows 1 and 3 will be recorded and show 4 will not if they are running at the same time or if there is any overlap.

I dumped them after their interface 'upgrade'. Great value for unlimited streaming for $5/mo but the interface was so bad I just had to cancel my subscription.

Time Warner Cable Rep Tells Me Company Doesn't Solve HDMI Problems (Updated)

Well I guess he's lucky because when I get calls like this I go to your door, explain the component cables are considered HD ready and offer to install it, completely ignore your whining about how HDMI is 'better' and charge you for this service regardless if you let me to install it or not. Ka-ching!

Yes I am a cable tech but not with TW. And my company also hates HDMI cables because they are fickle! We officially do not support it and don't care what you have to say about it. It's marketed as superior but mostly it's copy protection.

PS You can always replace the DVR box at the local office but don't waste my time on 'problems' like this one.

Comcast Installs Cable By Draping It Across Yard

As a cable tech I can confirm this is a standard procedure. The only issue is someone messed up the paperwork and the cable never got buried. I don't work for Comcast BTW. My cable co has a time frame of 30 days and sometimes even longer if bury crew is running behind the schedule. The cable is run on the easement, customer signs a liability waiver (saying they take full responsibility in case someone gets hurt).

As a cable tech I am not required (not even allowed) to bury cable. The underground public utilities need to be located (sprinklers, invisible fences, private utilities are responsibility of the customer and they need to have them located).

I try to not miss any paperwork but I have missed some for sure. It's life.

PS that cable seems to be RG11 cable (used for very long drops) and it seems to be aerial (should not be buried).

Seriously? This lady sounds like a bitch. The guy made a mistake, he did not do it on purpose and the fact she kept calling and called the newspaper just to get the info about the employee speaks volumes about her.

People like her really make me mad.

What's stopping the manager from refusing to sign anything? I'm a cable tech and once I told someone it was his TV and not a cable problem and he *demanded* a written statement from me. I said 'sorry not gonna happen'.

Why? I don't have to do it, not my job.

Actually after Citi increased my rate to about 20% they reduced it to 4.4% and 5.4% (diamond and simplicity cards). Never asked for it. Just stopped using them. Now I use my Citi cards again.

Time Warner Cable And The $12,000 Installation Fee

Commented by AgitatedDot:

This sounds very reasonable. As a cable tech I can tell you these amounts are not for standard installs. Also the cable co I work for does not have to service every house just because they have power. There is a home density per mile requirement and if it's not met, my cable co does not have to do anything. Also homes that are more than 300 feet away from the cable plant need to pay out of pocket for the installation. In fact we only do RG11 up to 250 feet. Anything above 250 depends solely on my cable co's decision.

Also if cable co provides service they have to make sure it works, so they would rather have you pay and get it done right instead of running RG11 and hoping it will work. Once this is installed they won't charge the customer for maintenance, the new plant is now cable co's responsibility.

Most people think they know everything about it but the fact is very few really do. As a cable tech I was greeted by a customer with 'First of all let me tell you that I am certified...Blah...Blah...' only to be told his modem power cord was not plugged in.

You would be surprised how many times those scripted steps actually solve the problem.
