Is "plum" poised to supplant pink as the new black? This NYT article, full of quotes from people who shovel bullshit for a living, seems to think so. [NYT]

That "article" is just an ad for the American Express plum card. My fashion designer wife assures us all that 1) black will always be the new black, and 2) anyone who thought pink was the new black needs to stop watching Legally Blonde reruns and pick up a fashion magazine.
for every person shovelling this bullshit, there are thousands who swallow it. Vapidness seems to be a common quality too.
Lemmings!
Various shades of purple and plum started to come into fashion with the Fall/Winter '06/07 collections, I believe. I don't mind, because I look ok in purples and plums. But black is, and always will be, the new black, and arguments to the contrary are futile.
Besides, didn't you hear that yellow is the color for summer? :D
Black is always black, and pink was huge as well, but plum will always make people look like Grape Ape.
"Would you call this color grape or aubergine"?
Name that movie!!
I stopped fast forwarding through commercials because I'm waiting for American Express to tell me if they got my application and approved me for a Plum card.
@pandroid: Seriously, purple is so 2006. Although, I'm pretty sure that 2008 is all about blue, especially peacock.
I'm still unclear as to why this is a Consumerist issue. Explanation?
Sorry, plum is totally 80s. Especially when combined with teal and silver.
Think of Patrick Nagel art like the cover of Duran Duran's Rio.

@Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler: It's all about advertising.
i look good in black.
i don't look good in pink.
plum? i don't know what the difference between plum and purple is. and i do NOT look good in purple.
I wish you would stop referring to NYT. Their registration is intrusive and a blatant marketing ploy. They also demand that cookies be allowed.
