Sears Takes Customer Account Security 80% Seriously

Dear MATTHEW F:
On Wednesday, April 9th you received an email with the subject line "Get $25 From Citibank". We recently discovered that the email we sent to you incorrectly contained the salutation "Dear Donna Robinson" rather than "Dear MATTHEW F". We apologize for the confusion this may have caused and want to assure you that the email is a legitimate Sears card email.

Oh Sears. Well, according to Matthew F, at least the account number was his.

I got that this morning. I was confused when:

1. Hotmail flagged it as junk, but not a phishing scam.
2. The links were legitimate.
3. They had the correct last 4 digits of the account, but the name was "Donna Robinson".

I flagged it as Phishing and moved on.

Look on the bright side, at least Sears didn't send out emails to all their customers with the Salutation "Dear Shitface"

At least that got one person right instead of everybody. I wonder if Donna got an email like this:
