It's time to nominate blogs for the 2008 Bloggies, which awards the best blogs on the planet, and darnit, we think should at least have the honor of being nominated. If you agree, head over to 2008.bloggies.com and submit our name under one of the categories. Something like Best American Weblog, Best Topical Weblog, or Best Group Weblog might be fitting. It's mainly for bragging rights but there's a possibility we could win 2,007 cents, which we pledge to only use to buy all the site editors burgers.
Eight Annual Weblog Awards [Official Site]

Comments
Geez, that's an ugly website.
Who cares about awards! Your posts are what makes you my required lunchtime reading.
Wow, you're right. Thats just awful. it looks like a middle schooler made it. You'd think a site like that would be a little more, I don't know, professional?
And it's not even fully Mac compatible.
Make sure to vote the site itself for it's own Best Designed category.
I'm actually turned off by the shotgun blast of categories they're collecting votes for. Also:
because of revision or removal, it's time to bid farewell to:
* Best British or Irish Weblog
[SNIP]
In exchange, these spiffy new categories take their place:
* Best African Weblog
[SNIP]
<MiNdBoGgLe>
P.S. Still voted for "you" all over the place. If no one else votes for "Best African Weblog, you're in. I'm sure nobody knows how to type [Xhosa click click language].com into the form. ;)
"we think should at least have the honor of being nominated."
Shamelessly plugging the site for these self-congratulatory circle jerk awards is making Andy Warhol do somersaults in his grave.
C'mon, Ben.
I just feel the need to let everyone know that my company web filter has categorized that site as "Sports".
(Same as skittles.com, btw, which is for the candy rather than the sport as far as I know.)
/useless information
mmm... E flat major.
Please don't beg Consumerist, it's so unbecoming
Err, the 2008 "bloggies"???
Ben, do you really need that sort of Validation? Isn't like the fact that you post a story and they are 200 comments on it enough :)
@CreativeLinks: It would be, except 190 of those comments aren't about the article -- they're just people calling each other racist. :(
DONE DEAL, all voted!
Put Consumerist in for a slew on nominations...then it wouldn't process until I added nominations for at least 2 OTHER blogs, so I also voted for
Dark Roasted Blend www.darkroastedblend.com which is a PHENOMINAL photo blog, and then went blank so I threw Lifehacker a bone, too.
:)
slew OF noms, I meant
You know, I'd vote for the blog if I could do it without voting for the commenters. This site got so flooded with shills, snobs and victim-haters over the last year that it almost seems silly to call it "the Consumerist" anymore. ...Just my $0.02, which unfortunately you asked for by asking for my vote. ;)
@magus_melchior:
Or c minor!
@MARY MARSALA WITH FRIES : No, they asked for your vote "IF YOU AGREE."
All that negativity for nothing ;)
