Report: Avon Looking At New Business Strategies, Including A Possible Sale

Once upon a time, Avon was the household name when it came to direct-sale beauty and personal care items. But those days are gone and the company has struggled in recent years to remain relevant and profitable. It appears those issues may be taking a toll on the once prominent company, as a new report claims the company is looking into alternatives for business.

Citing people familiar with the matter, The Wall Street Journal reports that Avon Products Inc. has begun to explore new strategies, including a possible sale of its North American entities, to turn around business.

By seeking strategic alternatives the company could be looking at a sale or a readjustment of its portfolio business. According to sources, Avon’s review indicates the company might think that improving performance could take a major overhaul.

No deals regarding the business are imminent, but the sources tell the WSJ that the review of options was the reason the company cancelled a planned analyst meeting earlier this week.
