According to a report by USA Today, Aldon Smith will not face charges stemming from his arrest in April, instead he will face a City Attorney Office hearing on July 30 to discuss the matter.
While prosecutors reserves the right to file charges for up to one year after the incident, officials with the office say no further action is planned.
Officials explain to USA Today that a City Attorney Office hearing is administered “in lieu of a criminal filing… Involved parties are scheduled to attend and give their account of the incident. The individuals are then admonished about the applicable laws and given suggestions on how to avoid similar incidents in the future.”
While that legal situation appears to be winding down, Smith still faces sentencing for weapons and DUI charges from unrelated incidents.
USA Today reports Smith is likely to be suspended by the NFL for the start of the upcoming season.
