Officers in Des Moines spotted a car without license plates early Tuesday morning, reports the Des Moines Register, and tried to stop it. That’s when police say the women kept going, even after several attempts and a dose of sirens.
She then led cops on a merry chase, going over 100 mph at times, police said, until she was finally boxed in by cars and allegedly fled on foot from that point. When she was caught and arrested, officers realized the vehicle was stolen and asked if she knew that.
“When you pay for a vehicle with meth, you don’t ask questions,” she replied, (which makes sense, honestly), according to the police report.
She also allegedly had 55 pills of Diazepam and a small bottle of morphine, cops said, and was charged with eluding, interference with official acts, second-degree theft, possession of Schedule IV and Schedule V drugs, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, driving without a valid license, failing to have a license plate and failing to obey traffic control devices.
Lesson learned, if you didn’t know it already: Don’t buy cars with drugs.
