Google Shopping Express Expands Same-Day Delivery Service To West L.A., Manhattan

googleexpressshopIf you’ve been jealously eyeing those folks in San Francisco who can get same-day delivery from Google Shopping Express — you want what you want, when you want it, after all — there’s hope. Well, for those of you living in West Los Angeles and Manhattan. Everyone else is still stuck using legs/car to satisfy any need for immediacy.

Amazon is no doubt perking its ears at the news, which will enable shoppers in those areas to choose a delivery window for their goods from local retailers — whether cat food or a new weed whacker — on the same day they order stuff.

Amazon recently announced it’s also expanding its same-day service for non-perishable items, so these two will be duking it out for customers as things continue to grow.

It currently costs a flat fee of $4.99 per store for same-day deilvery from major retailers in San Francisco, but if you’re living in one of the new areas, Google is offering six months of free, unlimited deliveries through June 30.

Partner stores in West L.A. include Costco, Guitar Center, L’Occitane, Smart & Final, Staples, Target, Toys“R”Us/Babies“R”Us, and Walgreens, while in New York, Manhattanites will get good from Babies“R”Us, Costco, Fairway Market, L’Occitane, Staples, Target, and Walgreens.

Next on Google’s radar — other parts of L.A. like Bel-Air, Beverly Hills, Pacific Palisades, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista and West Hollywood and in NYC, Queens and Brooklyn can expect the service in the coming months.
