I think I’ll just go ahead and start using Cash more often.

i don’t even know where my credit card from my credit union was hacked, but i logged into my account this morning and saw that my balance had been transferred to a new card number and my previous credit card was in the process of being closed. called the credit union in a panic, was told that they found out my card was compromised and shut it down, but mailed the new one out today. they even fixed my bill payment info so that i don’t have to create a new payee record for the new account number.
of course i still have to go update the billpay methods on my netflix and hulu accounts, but i love my credit union.

How about reporting the protections people already have when it comes to fraudulent use of plastic? My local media is *constantly* scare-mongering with these account breaches, but offers no information on the protections in place for credit cards and debit cards.
