Ex-Employee Claims She Injured Her Wrists Typing 1,000 Fake Profiles For Adultery Site

ashleymadisonThere are many jobs that require a bunch of time on the computer, spending long hours with fingers flying across the keyboard to send out words like so many beacons of human communication. But one ex-employee of affair-enabling dating site AshleyMadison.com says in a lawsuit seeking $20 million she spent so many hours typing up 1,000 fake profiles, she can’t work due to the damage her wrists sustained.

The woman claims that when she was hired to help set up a Brazilian version of the site, she had no idea she’d be writing fake female profiles in order to lure in married male clientele seeking an affair, or that doing so wasn’t ethical. In fact, she says she was led to believe “that doing so was some sort of a normal business practice in the industry,” reports the Canadian Press.

“The purpose of these profiles is to entice paying heterosexual male members to join and spend money on the website,” her lawsuit reads. “They do not belong to any genuine members of Ashley Madison – or any real human beings at all.”

All that alleged fake profiling “required an enormous amount of keyboarding” and she claims the pain she developed in her wrists and forearms was so bad, she had to quit and hasn’t been able to work since 2011. She claims the company ignored her complaints and wouldn’t give her a wrist rest.

But AshleyMadison.com’s parent coming Avid Life Media said she’s totally fine because she can ride a Jet Ski.

In a statement to Business Insider, the company says the lawsuit is “frivolous” and denies her claims:

“Throughout this lawsuit, [the plaintiff] has continued to lead an active life and has shown no side effects from her so called injury, as evidenced by her photo postings, depicting multiple vacations around the world, on social media sites. In fact, in several postings [the woman] can be seen clearly enjoying herself on a jet ski – an unlikely activity for someone who has allegedly suffered serious injury.”

Her attorney has fired back saying that it appears the company took the photos from her Facebook, and that her water sports activities “have nothing at all to do with her ability to keyboard or ongoing injuries.”
