I’m not a parent, but I do remember being a horrible teenager and occasionally being yelled at by my much put-upon mother. Like most parents, there were times when she took items and privileges away from me as punishment, but I don’t think she ever made a hefty profit off me by selling anything — and venting angrily — on eBay.
A mother in Australia has posted a set of four tickets to see One Direction (if you don’t know who they are, consider yourself lucky) at Sydney Olympic Park in October.
Apparently, some time after purchasing the tickets, her daughters did something that pushed mom over the edge, to the point where she not only decided to take the tickets away from her girls, but to include the following explanation on the eBay auction [via Reddit]:
You can thank my daughters self righteous and lippy attitude for their sale. See sweety? And you thought I was bluffing. I hope the scowl on your bitchy little friends faces when you tell them that your dad and i revoked the gift we were giving you all reminds you that your PARENTS are the ones that deserve love and respect more than anyone. And your silly little pack mentality of taking your parents for fools is one sadly mistaken. Anyhow. Your loss someone else’s gain who deserves them!
…OH YOUR FRIENDS THOUGHT THAT A FEW PRANKS CALLS WOULD PUT ME OFF SELLING THE GIFT WE BOUGHT FOR THEM for YOUR BIRTHDAY because YOU all LIED to us about sleep overs so you could hang like little trollops at an older guys HOUSE????? Pffft!! I find it HIGHLY amusing that you girls think you invented this stuff. Tricks like this on OUR parents is how HALF of you were conceived …..And why a lot of your friends DONT have an address to send that Fathers day card to!!! I’m not your friend. I’m your MOTHER. And I am here to give you the boundaries that YOU NEED to become a functional responsible adult. You may hate me now….. But I don’t care. Its my job to raise a responsible adult..not nuture bad habits in my teen age child
The current high bid on these tickets is about $480 (USD), and is going up every time I hit refresh. Given that the four tickets only cost around $300 (USD) to begin with, mom is on her way to a nice profit.
But before you go bidding for your chance to see a boy band prance around on stage, you might want to still check with the venue.
Given how quickly the bid price was increasing, I had assumed this show was sold out. But a check on the venue’s official ticketing site showed that there are numerous seats available at face value, often better than what’s being listed here. The only thing I noticed that might explain why folks are clamoring for these tickets is that groups there are no pockets of four seats together, so maybe it’s fans who absolutely must stand next to each other that are bidding like crazy on these tickets.
